Do you ever hold back info from you wife?

Not important stuff but little thing she will worry about?

Back story (we have a feral rescue cat, very sweet cat but even after two years she is still skittish, won't let strangers get close to her, any sudden movements and she bolts out of the room). Well, she got out and my wife was inconsolable... fortunately she showed up after three days... on the roof of our two story house.

So yesterday our big fat spoiled cat got out, so I send off a text to my wife "Lily got out". As soon as I sent the text I knew it was a mistake... I then started getting texts every 15 minutes asking for updates... I had some banking to do so ran off to do a few errands (didn't tell her, lie of omission) when I get home guess who is sitting at the top of the stairs waiting to get in? (I purposely let Lily out when I'm working in the yard, much to my wife's displeasure)

Anyway, we have a long weekend booked for next month... but we also have a show coming in next month and It was just announced "no vacation time will be granted" (stupid because it is not that big or important of a show).
First I thought to email my wife... then thought better of it... if I let this blow over and have a meeting with the department head (I am most senior tech in our department) and pull my Jedi mind trick on him I'm pretty certain I can get the time off.

So... what would PPOT do?

I certainly don't advertise to my wife how much I am spending on music gear. But she can see the credit card statements, and she knows damn well Moog is not giving those blinky boxes away.

I know several people who communicate every thought in their head all the time (whether on social media, or face to face). I have learned to let things play out, and see what the result is before I tell anyone. I like being a silent observer.

Why wouldn't I be honest all the time?

I can't think of anything I would want to hold back from her. She has been my rock for 37 years.

This coming June my bride and I will be married 41 years and counting . I learned pretty early that conversation with the wife is like an IRS audit or being in court . Answer questions directly but don't embellish , saying more than is necessary is what gets you in trouble !!

Both of those for me. No I never "hide" information, but I don't get into specifics unless questioned. We have been married almost 28 years. We got married late in life long after each of us had houses, and our financial lives on track. I still have my bank account, she has hers. We are both co-owners of the others accounts for legal reasons, but never touch the other's accounts. We figured out an equitable way to pay the bills long ago. My name is on the title to her Macan, and hers in on my 911 title. My El Camino was purchased and paid for before we got married, and I never bothered to dig it out and add her name.

If I buy some new toy, tool, or gizmo, she can't care less. She can spend her money on what she wants. We are both savers, and the make more then we spend. She retired a couple of years ago. I work from home. We are often together 20+ hours a day.

I tell her some details of my business, like our business buying a Cessna 182T, but she is 100% not involved in it.

Just lie to them about everything so that when you tell them the truth they wont know the difference.

I tell here strictly on a need-to-know basis if it directly affects her life. When I buy a speaker or tool and it is under $500 she doesn't really care. I buy tires all the time and she can't be bothered.

A few years ago I was shopping for another Porsche and I had discussed my choices and my expected $$ range many times. I thought all the groundwork was laid and I even told her I was going to look at one that was in great shape and it was listed at XX amount. The car was pristine so I bought it on the spot and drove home with it. All hell broke loose! I guess she wanted to confer and give a final approval for a $30k Porsche. Oops, my bad!

Not intentionally, but I tend to get trapped. Like:
"I heard you tell Daniel you're going into town today."
"Um, yeah. I need some fuel line."
"When were you going to let me in on the secret?"
"It's no secret. I just decided, while I was on the phone with him."
"I would just like to know what your plans are before you make them, that's all. Is that too much to ask?"
