service dilemma
Received a letter from Honda for the 'Takata passenger air bag recall'
I normally do all my own maintenance, but figured I might as well have this done because it also included a free car wash and 30 point vehicle inspection. Had it done this am and when getting home I read the insp. report. The only noted problem was needing tranny flush and new tranny filter. My question is...where do I find a tranny filter for my 5 speed manual Honda? Also...where does it go when I get it??

The recall was free, of course, but the trans work quote was $98
I should prob bring the car in for the work..and ask for the replaced filter.

The best part of the dealership visit was...they had a new 306hp Civic Type R on the lot.
About twice the hp of my SC with half the size engine. The exterior looks take some time to absorb. I like it...esp for less than 30K. I wish I would have taken it for a test-drive.

I recently brought my Ford Escape to the dealer for an oil change, I would normally avoid the dealer like the plague and rather do the oil change myself but it was still under warranty. I did however, just replace the air filter with a new, genuine Ford filter.
When I picked up the car there was a note in the paperwork: “Air Filter Filthy”. I brought the Service Advisor out with me to the car to take a look at it, he was also convinced it needed replacement. He said “I’m so sorry, that really is brand new”.

I guess I'm a skeptic but my default answer is, ok thanks. If its really a problem I want to get eyes on it and understand it. Trust is tough for me with a service provider.

It is under the blinker fluid reservoir, so you have to take that out to get at the filter, might as well replace that fluid, and it looks like it is a little pricey.

^^^ Yeah..I noticed my blinkers were slower in all that cold weather. A lighter weight oil should do the trick.

Clearly the 30 point inspection is to sell parts and service. Can't blame them for that. If the system is manual based on a check list the tech just screwed up. If it was integrated with the VIN data base with service mileage triggers that should have not occurred.

You can get your blinker fluid and other important parts. They have stuff you just can not get from PP.

The service advice was hand-written by the tech. The majority of these Hondas are auto trans. He prob was going on mileage alone.

I'm surprised at the bottom of these "repair and maintenance" sheets they don't have something like "if applicable" to save face in these kinds of situations.
