That's pretty neat, Bugs......thanks for sharing.

Seems so ridiculous these manufacturers don't have something better built in on these machines for easier and less messy oil changes. It's the year 2023 for goodness sakes!

Also, good to see you're making good progress on your culvert project. Gonna be real nice when all said and done! Respect, brother! SmileWavy

Put a couple shelves up in my Mom's assisted living facility bedroom.

Forgot to bring a level and my pencil lead broke off in transit plus my stud finder didn't really find the studs.....but as always I winged it and they turned out good enough.

Just wanted something to display some the cards she receives in the mail, plus her two stuffed bunnies.

Didn't realize until today that her cleaning lady she had for many years when she was still living in her home has been sending her cards. This is one.....how nice of her!

Thanks Baz! Yeah, it gonna be nice to finish this one.
The challenge now is to somehow rangle a 3/4 ton truck. This stupid state won’t allow rental yards to allow 1/2 tons pick up trailers for equipment or concrete. Stupid I know.

I finished the planters for the girlfriends palms, and brought them to her place

One on either side of her "throne" at the end of the pool

Very nice work! They look great.

I tried to replace upper ball joint on my F150, but it wouldn’t budge. Taking a few pictures, I noticed the bottom of the ball joint opening was pushed out. This is from the bad angularity of the upper control arm with a 3” level. I need to come up with a better solution.

Hot in Virginia, so, I charged my AC system just in time to cool down all that Canadian smoke that gets sucked in through the front air vents. ;)
*please, guys, pave paradise and put up a parking lot*

Baz 07-17-2023 04:20 PM

Warm air coming out the Silverado vents......crap......compressor? Freon?

Turned out I just accidentally bumped the temp control....lol.....whew!!!

Baz 07-17-2023 04:53 PM

We're getting a lot of rain here. I squeeze work in between.

Late this afternoon ran over to Mom's and pruned her Cabbage palm.

It's a one hour job and I do it every year about this time. You have to time the pruning to when the flower stalks have all emerged but fruit/berries have not yet formed.

Wednesday is yard waste pickup day so we should be set.

Also, I always walk all over the pile of fronds to get it as mashed down as possible so it appears as small as possible. I'm a good frond stacker too!

Hahaha, talk about a quick fix. [emoji28]

Tonight, I replaced the crusty mirrors on our 95 GMC K1500.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ad0d05f44d.jpg

No rest for the wicked. Are you a solo operation at your shop?

Can’t wait to see what magic you do with these. I assume those are for last weeks beauty?

I'm a one man opp... sometimes guys trade me labor... if they're sharp enough. These are the surfaces for the scout. You going to av next week? I have lodging, and an extra bed in camp sholler on the airfield if you want it.

Coolio on the solo operation, we have one here at Placerville. Ragtime Aero and he does amazing work. Has built a few planes for Kermit too. In on of the Smithsonian Magazine issues, he was mentioned in a story about the Howard Aircraft Company since he had fully restored several of them. Thought that was cool to see since Rick is such a nice and humble guy.

Ah man, that is very kind of you and I can’t express how much I appreciate the offer for AV. Unfortunately I am working all next week and since we have staffing shortages, I’m locked down. If I could swing it, I’d book a flight tonight. I have always wanted to go. Please take lots of pics and share them. I know many would appreciate it, especially me.

Got home today a little early from our unit training day and I decided to make a set of rudimentary heat shields for the VE.

Had a sidewall let go in one of the front tires of my New Holland 30 hp tractor on the 8th. They were 18 years old, so not exactly a surprise. What was a surprise was it took 10 days to get replacements. I picked them up this afternoon and got them bolted on. Now to catch up on what I was doing 11 days ago.
Mowing weeds, haying (if the weather co-operates) and fixing a wash out in a culvert.
So much fun I could almost spit.

Best
Les

Inspired by rsrguy’s phenomenal airframe work, I decided to say “[emoji1596]” to working on more wall crap and spent the day working on a small VariEZ project.

Continued work on my rudimentary heat shields for additional protection for the fiberglass landing gear and Nyla-flow brake lines. I personally know three folks than have had brake issues with with the LongEZ since the brakes are small and easily overheated if you are not careful. Our VariEZ has the upgraded LongEZ gear and larger brakes. I still will be mindful of landing speeds and run out, so hopefully it will help.[emoji1695][emoji1695][emoji1695][emoji1695][emoji1695]

Since I don’t have a bandsaw, I had to think “outside da box” on shaping the 1/8” aluminum.
