The fella I mentioned who was knocking down his chimney has now gone full on with a home renovation.

A buddy of mine just completed his - same thing. Take it all out except a few walls. Then you don't have to jump through all the permitting hoops like those who do a total demolition.







Here's a few pics of my buddy's project, which was completed early this year. His place is on the next block over.

There are two different houses....3 photos each.

Both are renovation jobs nearby where I live.

One was just started and the other just completed.

I got an old tent garage that my neighbor had it blew away and the tarp got shredded so he gave me the metal for scrap. Alot of it was cut instead of taking the bolts out so I had to weld it back together first. It was higher than i liked so i took the lower legs off of one side. Its on a hill anyway. I put it in a dry spot up in my woods so it shouldnt need a base. I used metal i had from an old swimming pool zip screwed it on top and wood on one side. Im still piecing together the other side I have some roofing metal and other scraps around. It will be great for tractors and wheelers and snowblowers that are all taking up way too much room in my other sheds.

Super glue and baking soda is supposed to work.
I've usually used the 2-part epoxy and glued a patch on the back.

I bought that too. Works like a charm if you take your time and get everything prepped and ready. (practice helps, too) I think it was 10 or 15 bucks!!

Bought an M3 style front bumper cover for the 330. Then while I’m in there, I thought I would reinstall the original ductwork to the radiator and relocate the oil cooler. I ordered new O-rings for the oil cooler Monday and they’re supposed to be here today but are a no-show. Unfortunately, I’m dead in the water until they show up…

I've been working on the Snark. I repaired the missing strip of veneer on the rudder by filling in the gap with some clear epoxy and then decided to paint the rudder blade and the daggerboard gloss black. Today I masked off the "mast seat" and painted it gloss black also to match the rudder and daggerboard. I put a small beach umbrella in the mast sleeve to provide a little shade.

Not quite. The CA Coastal Commision (I'd love to insert a PARF comment here) has jurisdiction from anywhere from 1000 yards to 5 miles inland for any improvements. Then there's the local jurisdiction.

One way to declare construction of a new home a remodel is to leave one wall standing and use a large percentage of the original foundation footprint. I have often seen the fireplace wall the one that is left. That's funny because new wood burning fireplaces are not allowed in many areas. So one wall gets to be grandfathered while a mcmansion is built.

^^^^^ That's exactly happened where I live. The guy built on the previous foudation and replaced everything resulting in a new house. Not a McMansion, but a very nice house on the old footprint.

It doesn’t look much different than my last picture above, but it’s all back together. I still still need to install the two fillers between the headlights and the front bumper. We’ll see what happens at the track in two weeks….

I put a couple of coats of polycrylic on the mast seat and reinstalled the cleat for the halyard, all done with that. My wife, Sister-in-law, and daughter have been working on this dining table and chairs. My wife found the table at Goodwill, paid 50 bucks for it, stripped it and sanded it all herself. She got the chairs for 10 bucks each at our Re-Store. The chair backs and legs are black and the bottoms will be stained to match the table. Glad to see her progressing with this project as it has been taking up lots of space in the storage building, lol.

In between my other "fixin' it" projects, I came across this pair of shears while walking my dog. They hadn't been out in the elements too long - long enough to rust, but not long enough to rust solid. I coated them with naval jelly and left them for an hour.



Here they are with naval jelly on them. (No "before" pics. Sorry)



After a good scrubbing and some oil they are like new (almost). They are only 4" long, which is a great size for clipping tomato blossoms and deadheading flowers. I'm glad to have them.
