Lowered hight of reel mower with front steel roller to partially scalp zoyzia yard then aerated, top dressed with 1/2 yard of river sand and spread lime to promote root growth. Although it looks very smooth the soil is remarkably uneven most noticably when waling on it and as I lower the mowing height is scalps very unevenly. I don't have a leveling rake to spread the sand so I used a Bow Rake turned upside down with the tines facing up. I've got 5 5-gallon HD buckets of sand left over than I can further fill in low spots.
Any tips from yard pro's highly welcomed! Unfortunately, I do not get full sun due to large trees so it grows slowly after mowing. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713451674.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713451674.jpg |

Might be different where you are but when Zoysia gets a fungus here it looks dead. Large brown areas. But many times an application of an appropriate fungicide will bring her back to life. You can also pick the brain of any reputable spray company. I like chatting with the actual tech who is parked in the neighborhood. Surprising the number of veterans still doing battle and always willing to share intel. Good luck and please keep us posted. SmileWavy |
When I bought the old Skunk dingy a few years ago I immediately tossed the cheap plastic oar locks and mounts for cast oar locks mounted in hardwood. Last summer the granddaughter and I got caught on the other side of the river (1/4 mile wide) by a rapidly rising north wind which raised white caps and led to a one and a half hour row home. Later inspection revealed a crack in one of the hardwood mounts, so I decided to replace them.
A friend who has a fish plant donated a chunk of 1 inch thick plastic.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713620742.jpg I still had to drill recesses for the bolt heads, washers and nuts when this pic was taken, but I an hopeful this will be a more durable set up. The mounts for the locks go inside the hull, the backing blocks which are match drilled are outside. Best Les |
When driving my 911 a few weeks back I pulled the lever to squirt and wipe the windshield. No joy as no liquid was squirted. So I made a mental note to fix that ASAP. So today I pulled the 911 into the work bay, and closed the garage door to make it quiet and pulled the lever. The wipers start wiping, and I heard the pump running but nothing came out.
OK, first simple check, does it have fluid. Of course the tank is in the fender and obaque, so looking is not an option. So I poured in 1/2 a gallon of washer fluid, and tried again. Like magic, it squirted! It does require fluid in the tank! My easiest "fix" in ages! |

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713644421.jpg This water feature in the nursery has been down for a year, and is next up on the project list. Couple of Red Eared sliders are living in the muck. Going to treat for mosquitos, then dredge all the leaf litter out and reassess. |
^^^ beautiful, Quick.......and thanks for helping those turtles! :)
=========== Washed the Volvo this morning with a ceramic wash & wax, then changed the oil in the '02 Silverado. Love these Rhino ramps! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713651562.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713651562.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713651562.JPG |
^^^ I just bought a pair of rhino ramps myself. They come in handy versus jacking up the truck/car sometimes.

And the best part is......they won't rust out like the old style metal versions! |
This is actually my second pair. I broke my first pair last weekend, unloading the 330 off the car trailer. I drove the truck up on the ramps to make the trailer angle easier to get the car off by myself. Too much weight.

Yeah, they should have a weight rating over that. Not a good testament.

Wonder if they'd work on my 914.
I have some brake work scheduled this week. Be nice to have her up off the ground a bit before any jacking is done. Not sure if the risk is worth the benefit though...... |
My friend bought this sawmill from an old timer. It hadnt been used in a long time lots of stuff rusted up. I changed the tires and freed everything up got it to run. It was a bit of a learning curve but I cut about a dozen boards. It was old ash so they were pretty brittle I didnt want to make a million weak boards that I have no use for and nowhere to store. But it works pretty well.

^^^ Nice work on the vintage sawmill, dude!
----------- Yesterday a minor irrigation repair at my house - the cracked pipe created by me when I was setting another 4x4 with my post hole digger. I put the irrigation system in back in '97 but of course don't keep track of the exact location of every line. Then today trimmed Mom's 3 Queen Palms - about 2 months behind on my schedule - but got 'er done. There's 1 in front and 2 in back. Also began brake work on the teener starting with jacking up the front of the car. I'll be working on it throughout the week one step at a time as I can fit into my schedule. The front wheels are turning OK by hand but not freely enough for me. I suspect one of the rear calipers is stuck. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713816085.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713816085.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713816085.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1713816085.JPG |
I like that flex fitting.
Baz, is your truck lowered just a bit? Mu '89 was using -2" front springs and shackles in the back. It sat level with tools on board. Was pretty handy in the curves unloaded for a truck. My 2006 is bone stock. |
