Check your timing before you cut it off, timing being wayyyy off can cause the extra-hot cat...

Thanks, if the truck survives, I’ll do that.

It sounds like a camed out race car. I only cut one side and unbolted the other.

Emergency evacuation caused me to take extreme measures in an attempt to load it and leave

Man, I wish you the best. The truck can be replaced, people can't, so take care of yourself and the family.

I have been chasing a noise on the driver's side front suspension on the RX350 for over a month now. In this process, I have replaced parts that, despite not being the cause of the noise, needed replacing. Items replaced so far include both front axles, driver's side wheel bearing, hub, and ball joint, passenger side ball joint, front rotors turned, slider pins cleaned, and greased and the noise is still there. Tonight, my brother-in-law stopped by, and I took him for a ride down the street to see if he could tell what it could be. He thought that it was more of a bumping sound so when we parked back in my driveway, we pushed up and down on the driver's side, and you could hear the noise as the car bounced up and down. So it has been determined that the strut on that side has failed and is bottoming out or close to it. I was looking at replacing both front struts as the bellows are very deteriorated. So, hopefully, the noise is coming from the driver's side strut, and I will be replacing both in the near future. Here are some random pics from my tinkering today looking at clearances to see if anything was rubbing somewhere. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...d781793895.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...7a4ec2d8fc.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...78c918fa2f.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...ce383332bd.jpg

Parts are finally starting to come in. Would have been simpler to just buy a new engine off Amazon.

What Marty said, Bugs!

Please keep us posted - especially if we can help in ANY way!

Hey Baz,

Property is good, fire is out, airport closed for the next couple weeks. Three hangars burn but unknown level of damage, Mrs. Bugs is a total wreck, and now we/me are putting things back after a hasty retreat of throwing things in vehicles.

Just damage control from this fiasco. Got very lucky so say the least. Kinda thought we were F-ed.

Regarding the truck, I was given a little trick using a water squirt bottle when starting the truck initially. Should/might be able to determine the dead cylinder. A small window to see if it will work. I will now look closely into the intervals of the distributor.

Whew....had me worried there, my friend!

So glad to hear you escaped any harm there!

Probably a good dress rehearsal though.

Good luck with the truck engine issue......I know that's gotta be tearing out hair frustrating!

Thanks Baz,

My next run of days off will give me some time to investigate the dizzy.

On a different note, this would take your art work to the next level. You would become a legend in the community. I mean more-so than you already are…….. jus sayin

Replaced the front brakes and flushed the fluid from the whole system on my SAAB 9-3.

I bought the car last Fall and braking seemed to be fine except under hard braking the car pulled. The last couple weeks, there has been grinding on the passenger side, so ordered new calipers, pads, hoses and rotors.

Replacement went really well, everything broke loose and nothing stripped... well except the remanufactured caliper bleed screw was bungled, luckily I was able to fit the old bleeder screw in its place.

I quickly found the grinding issue- the inner pad was not a pad anymore- don’t tell me I didn’t get my money’s worth- down to just the backing plate!

Drive it on up to MN and I’ll do them for you while you give Moose some belly rubs!

Got my Jeep on the ramps again. The t case needs a rebuild. Growling and locking up in low range. I was towing home a piano and 1k lbs of pipes when the rear wheels locked up and almost jacknifed it. I was only going 10mph luckily. Now im afraid to drive it any farther if it decides to lock up in high. Anyway almost got it out. Lots of glitter in the oil from the thrust washers I guess.

Replaced the rear shocks on the F150. Took about an hour. We’ll see if there’s an improvement tomorrow. Old shocks were original with 205k on them.

Pretty soon you'll have a brand new truck! ;)

Ha! For a 10 year old truck and 205k on the clock, it’s been a great truck*. I picked up a new fan belt and AC belt this afternoon. I’ll probably install them, when I replace the radiator hoses, etc. as they have 100K on them.

* Knock on wood!

On my '02 Silverado (244K miles) - I had to replace the belt tensioner as well as the AC belt. In fact....the failing (seizing up) tensioner is what caused the belt to break.

This is the tensioner dedicated for the AC belt. Not the other one at the top for the serpentine belt.

Not sure if this is applicable for your Ford but thought I'd mention it, based on your previous remark about wanting to cover all bases when doing a repair.
