Continuing Thread: What Are You Fix-It'ing Today?

I purchased it in November 1994, so she is still in the ODB-1 generation. I also thought the CAT could be plugged. That was until we had that fire this summer on the south side of the airport and threatening our place. Under mandatory evac orders, I jumped under the truck and cut the dang thing out with a ripo saw. Unbolted the other end, thinking I could load it up and drive it out. No such luck, sounded like a crappy running clapped out stock car. Cat looked clean, actually and daylight can be seen through the media.[emoji2371][emoji2371][emoji2371][emoji2371][emoji2371] I’m afraid that when I find the issue, it will be like “that was so simple, why didn’t you start there[emoji2357] |

I like your 86 911 better |
Some douche bag did a hit and run on our daughter/SIL’s Tahoe and damaged the right rear bumper. I cleaned up the black marks and pushed the bumper cover from the inside. It looks better but the material is stretched out.

930, if that bumper cover is plastic not metal.
You can get really good results hitting it with the heatgun and while wearing a leather glove push it out from the inside. Actually two gloves. Inside and outside, and you'll barely notice it has had any drama. |
Bill, it is plastic. I’ll try heat gun and see how it goes. I’m afraid it may be too stretched to get back.
|
I did much the same to GF's car. If there was one car in the world not to dent... But it came out well. Good luck.
Afterthought: I think the plastic wants to be it's original (moulded) size and shape so not too hard to get it there. |
My left front tire has been wearing out on the outside, on my 2014 F150. I’ve had it aligned twice and I’m going back tomorrow to get it aligned again. But, this time I have slotted the K member on the left side, so that I can get neutral camber.
Hopefully I didn’t take too much out and weaken the K member. I’m thinking about getting some thick fender washers, to beaf it up a little bit. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1731982884.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1731982884.jpg |
^ just thinking a quick spray..then white marker pen marks..might help with location for future reference.

After the alignment today, it rode really well. I brought my 3/4” torque wrench, to make sure they got the bolts to 258 ft lbs. i’m going to check them tomorrow. Trust but verify! And the steering wheel was straight! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1732072083.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1732072083.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1732072083.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1732072083.jpg |
