Biscuit joiner? Naw, I just eat 'em one at a time. No need to be greedy.

Picked up a great looking Subaru Forester Turbo for cheap from the used car section of junk yard.

They gave it "mechanical inspection" and said everything looks good except brakes. No warranty on engine or transmission, but it sounded great when I started it up.

Drove it off the lot after paying and rear strut collapsed onto tire. They gave me $400 cash back. Replacing both rear struts/all brakes and I'll do a better "mechanical inspection" before I take it out on the road.

That couldn't have been an Alberta car. Maybe from the East coast? We have safety inspections out here every two years for a very good reason.

Car still has Calgary Subaru dealership logo on the back. It was in Ottawa at some point in it's life (Receipts under the seats)

Anyway, it will live even if I have to break out the welder!

Replacing a couple of wood viga tails that have detiorated since installation 16+ years ago. I priced turned posts at HD and found out they were $267 for an 8 ft.post special order. G0t a local utility crew to give me some sections of telephone pole for free.

Go get 'em. Marv!

So how long are those viga tails? You hoisted them up there by yourself? Ooof.....had to be pretty hefty!

I did some ladder work myself today trimming palms.

The wife wanted a sign on the back of the horse trailer. She ordered one off Etsy, it's supposed to look something like this.

However when it showed up, the transfer tape was separated from the vinyl all over. Lots of bubbles, and she got frustrated and just went for it. She didn't want any help, swore she knew what she was doing. Here's the result. Lots of bubbles and wrinkles on the parts that did stick. $55.00 or so down the drain. She won't tell me what she paid for it, and I really don't want to know. Here's her result.

I offered to do something similar with the Cricut, not knowing what I was getting myself into. I haven't used it in several years and the PC it is connected to is Windows 7. I tried to launch it and it of course wouldn't without updating. I let it update, and wouldn't you know, it popped up a box that Windows 7 was no longer supported. Great. Tried the Windows downloader on that PC, it wouldn't run. Stuck the flash drive I wanted to use in my couch surfing laptop, that wouldn't read it. Back to the old PC, reformatted the flash drive. Back to the laptop, downloaded Windows 10 22H2. There's no way this PC will run Windows 11. It is old and slow. I spent several hours doing the upgrade, and then I had to reinstall the Cricut software. What's my password? I don't know, reset the password. I finally got in, cut out the words, but didn't have the graphic. I ended up buying some graphics off their site, maybe I bought too many. But here's the result. I know, the lettering isn't perfectly straight. The Cricut will only cut 11.5 x 23.5, so it's multiple pieces. Maybe I should have gone with 5 horses, and I originally had it designed with 5, but this morning I had to add a Gypsy Vanner. The barn she takes lessons at has one and she rides him often.

Two 48" rolls of glitter white vinyl. Maybe it will show up better at night, I don't know. But I think I'm done with vinyl for a few years. If any of her friends ask, I'm retired.

Baz. I cut the telephone pole sections 13 in. long, so the're not too heavy. Telephone pole wood is fairly dense. I bought structural screws to anchor them, since they're heavier than the original viga tails. I'll be checking on them once in a while to see if they need more anchoring. I'm frequently up & down on the ladder to get on my roof, clean my solar panels, etc. The top of the parapet wall is 14 ft. Damn!!! I look OLD in that picture.

Scheming... I've worked at integrating traditional comanche styling elements, but its tougher than you'd think.

I doubt if you're soliciting advice, but....

For what it's worth.

I like the top schematic best, but I wonder what it would look like with a bit wider white stripe in the rudder (same curves, same sharp tip under the cabin windows, just open up the stripe at the top of the rudder, ), and only a single black stripe on the cowl, (like the second picture)

Either that or black with orange flames and pinstriping like the California Kid '34 roadster.

Edit:
N5760P is really nice the way it is.

Both rear struts replaced. Drivers side was rusty, but didn't look ready to collapse.

Brakes on passenger side done. Drivers side tonight.
