It worked great so I bought a bracket and hung it............hooked up to an antenna so free TV!

Replaced the water pump at the Armadillo Ranch. The 40 year old Ruth Berry jet pump was on its last legs sprouting leaks all over. Finally found a 3/4 Hp Goulds Deep Well Jet Pump.

The hand dug well is over 140 years old. The concrete pipe sections were stacked one on top of the other as the dirt and gravel at the bottom was dug out and lifted out with buckets. As the hole got deeper the pipe sections settled into it and another section was placed on top. They hit water at about 40 feet and kept going to 50 to give a 10 foot deep pool. Here is looking down after the old pipes to the siphon venturi (jet) and foot valve have been pulled out.

Interesting about the well construction. I have jetted them here down to a 20' or so depth ending up with an 1 1/4" PVC well. The professionals do the same but with dedicated tanker trucks & pumps and they leave a 2" PVC size.

Goulds is the gold standard around here. For these shallow wells we use centrifugals - usually 1 1/2 HP. I thought about putting an on-demand one in here using a jet pump and might one day just for hose bibs outside. I use city water for household needs and for outside hose bibs.

The old siphon jet assembly with the foot valve on the right. The old cover screen that was bolted to the end of the foot valve must have fallen off and is still at the bottom of the well. When the well was last cleaned 40 years ago, the guys who did it found all kinds of stuff at the bottom. Old buggy axle and leaf springs, racoon bones, rusty buckets but no Timmy. I guess Lassie did manage to get help. :D

Strip interior
Install differential with bushings
Install guibo, center bearing, CV joint

We’ll see how much I actually get done…😂

Start with the steering wheel, then the race harness, get those rear wheels squared away. 2nd race seat.

Yesterday I did the tear out including a tear down of my palm seedling nursery and some fencing and today I started the build of an extension of the front deck. This will make the third phase, and I'm already brain storming about Phase IV.

This third phase will include the courtyard off my master bedroom.

The fencing around it was put in back in '08 and has survived quite a few hurricanes and tropical storms. I'm looking forward to putting some new in but that will be the last step and later on.

I picked up lumber at HD this morning, finished the site prep, set all the 4x4's, unloaded the rest of the lumber, and then went back tonight and picked up (28) ten foot 5/4 deck boards. That should be enough to get half of the decking done and then I will work on the second half, which will be a little trickier going around 3 mature Foxtail Palms in a triangular pattern that are staying.

Started with the interior. Didn’t get too far, but get the seat and steering wheel in.

I’ll finish gutting the interior tomorrow, then work on rolling the fenders for the wider tires.

Picked up a grab bar to assist the wife getting in and out of the shower/tub. Of course there was no backing behind the fiberglass to support the mounting screws so I had to make a re-enforcing piece and position it by reaching up through the removable panel where the pipes feed the shower. Doggone I'm glad I don't have to do that again!

Horns on the Buick causing a battery drain! I discovered that white thing there is where the horn connects, wire has a spring on it that goes down in there and is supposed to lock into place but the slot where it would lock was broken causing the spring deal to pop out which causes the horn to want to honk continuously. Doesn’t look like much progress, but it took another 6 hours to finish stripping the trunk and interior. Still need to remove the headliner, but I need the sunroof delete panel first.

Iv been working on one of these chairs that folds into a ladder. Iv got the small half done now working on back half. got most of the pieces made just working on the small connecting pieces now. Im just making it out of all the old oak scraps i have around so lots of sawing and planeing and sanding to get them down to size.

I may have mentioned this before. I had an empty lot behind my house for the first 24 years I lived here. Then last year some people bought it and built a 2 story house. Ugly as sin and for sure doesn't fit into our island feel, but I'm sure they think it's gorgeous. :rolleyes:

Well, the other day when I was working on my front deck project, the neighbor stops by and wants to talk (yells to me from the street, naturally). I walk over and he begins to whine about my back deck only being 8" from his property line and he didn't like it so he went to the city and they told him his name would be on the complaint so he figured he'd come talk to me about it. Talk about a weasel of the highest magnitude. This is him.

He has a row large Areca Palms along his side of the fence which almost hide what I built and even his landscaper told him to let it go, but (in his own words) "It's me that counts and if I'm not happy - I'm not happy." :rolleyes:

I asked him if I lowered the canopy 3' - would that suffice? He said yes.

So finally this morning was the day I budgeted time for the work. I ended up removing the roof and top framing, pulling out the two 4x4's closest to the fence, cutting 3' off the deck, and re-setting the two 4x4's 5' from the fence.

The deck is still there but now 3' away from his p/l. I plan to re-do the framing and put a new roof on it, but this time will use some leftover standing seam panels I had in my stash. These suckers are long so I will have to cut them. But the good thing is now I am going to tie the new deck into the old canopy I built above my concrete patio so it will be continuous.

I also just bought some camo material to drape over everything so it will hopefully appease the little weasel. It should be here on Sunday (Amazon).

Crawled into the MIL'S cellar this afternoon with hardware cloth, Styrofoam blocks and a big can of Great Stuff to close up some gaps where old walls had some work, then settled. Max headroom in places was <4ft. I happen to be over 6 ft.
However I managed to get the gaps closed up on the old house. It really needs a new basement ( in truth it needs to be torn down and be rebuilt. ) This may be her last winter in a house her family bought 75 years ago.. It's her home. I get that.
