There is a huge field next to the track and they line up weeks before the gates open.

There are people living in the RVs for those weeks? Or do owners just park their rig there to mark their spot in line, and then come back when the field/track really opens?

Both. Some guy in a tent is always first in line. He lives in it.

There's lots going on there for sure. Watched some SVRA vintage racing today. Lots of early 911s running. Lots of RVs in the outlot that are probably there all the way thru the 12 hour. Hagerty had a big car show. 85 and sunny

I watched some testing on Sunday and the Toyotas were in a whole other class, almost like F1 cars. Mike Conway set an all-time lap record 2.7 seconds faster than the 2013 Audi R18! Alonso also beat the record. The test was closed to spectators, but a long section of the track is visible from, and runs parallel to, the public road going to the airport. So you can drive down the road with the race cars right alongside at 180MPH separated only by a wire fence. Unless the Toyotas break, they win. A couple shots of Alonso:

There are airport security cops that will run you off if you stay in one spot too long.

If they sent the Sebring security guards to the Mexico border, we wouldn't have any problems with illegal crossings There was only one guy for the test. There's usually 3-4 for the race weekend.

Sebring is an interesting melting pot of race fans , rednecks , hot chicks , chicks that think they are hot but aren't , engineering marvels of spectator vehicles , police , hot chicks etc. for those that have gone in the past they know what I mean . Areas like " the zoo " and " F troop " to name just a few . I've seen it all in the years I attended when I lived in Orlando . Open sales areas for pot and other drugs , guys lined up for cheap BJ's in the back of a box truck , porn mags scattered all over the infield areas , flashing of breasts and on and on ........... it was one huge PARTY !!! I think the event organizers are trying to tame the beast but it has a loooooong reputation and it will take a while to tame her . That and folks getting older . The worst I ever saw was a grandma in her 80's walking around in a$$less hot pants with no underwear ....... needed a heavy dose of eye bleach to get rid of that image !!! I won't be going this year but hope to get there again in the future .........

Huge Run On Sebring Tickets

“The numbers terrify me, because it changes the logistics needs so tremendously,” he continued. “You want to alert everybody and say, ‘I know you’ve been used to coming to Sebring and having a little bit more elbow room in the past. Not this year’.
