It would be interesting to follow him around as he tours the sports betting spots of 'Vegas.

...and get "in line" to oppose him...probably be first in line too ;).

He has changed Jeopardy strategy forever...I haven't really watched much in recent years....until this thread ....amazing he is!

No sweat....now he's above 1.6 million.

Also now in second place behind Ken Jennings with 'number of games won'.

He was getting stuff tonight I never even heard of in my entire life....and I got a college education!

I did get the FJ though - I got that goin' for me.....:)

URY914 05-02-2019 06:28 PM

I got the LeMans question right. :D

I’ve never heard of most of the stuff. A lot of times I haven’t the slightest clue what the clue was. As in, what is he talking about? I’ll yell out the answer maybe four times in a show and think I’m a geenyus only to discover otherwise.

I used to play Trivial Pursuit and impress my mom and dad but this guy is whacked!

Funny, he seems to know about everything but he does not know car stuff. Thats the second time he has tried the Paris to Dakar response and lost.

His knowledge of obscure trivia is truly mind-boggling but he answered incorrectly more times than usual tonight...got at least four wrong. He actually fell behind early in round one but then stepped it up and quickly recovered the lead.

Wonder what this guy was like as a kid? A real-life Sheldon Cooper?

Well, that was interesting. Seems that James was a stand-out on that show too.
Looks like he was wearing the same red sweater on The Chase that he's been wearing on Jeopardy!. I wonder if he's superstitious and thinks that it brings him luck?

His quickness to answer even before hearing the whole question gives a bit of credence to my theory about his focus and timing on the button.

LeMans is the final race of the championship endurance season ???
I demand a recount.

If you were watching closely, he was playing a joke on himself. He burst out laughing and did the brow-slap when he remembered the last time he said that instead of 'Tour De France'.

See if the producers don't put in an answer (question) about the Paris-Dakar rally now to get in on the joke.

I'm pretty good a Jeopardy and have considered applying to be a contestant. There are games I've watched where I knew I would have won had I buzzed in on time. I figure I could maybe win a game or two but that's all, probably. I won't even think of applying until James is out. I wonder if there has been a sudden drop in applicants. This could be a problem.

Crowbob 05-03-2019 04:04 AM

My guess is the clues will get progressively more difficult. At this point, he’s demonstrated Jeopardy abilities that will not likely be surpassed any time soon. As such, the producers are probably focused more on stumping him rather than on making the game more competitive. James has seen to that angle.

Obscure is a relative term. Car stuff is common knowledge and obscure. I wonder if James can actually piece together a whole from all the pieces he sees. It seems he has. He very intelligently decided not to do something that could be called a job. Professional gambler and trivia master fits exactly. With his strong bent for mathematics and his novel strategerizing skills, plus his indefatigable goal-oriented competitiveness, make him one awesome person.

Human Feats for 1,000, Alex.

Ding ding ding and it’s the Daily Double!

Let’s do Vegas, again Alex.

Similar to this documentary, viewers are left with one word: amazing.

What is Free Solo?

You got it!

It takes quite a while to actually make it on the show as a contestant after initially applying...maybe a year or more. After passing an on-line test, selected applicants then travel to the Sony studios in CA (on their own dime) for in-person interviews and to play in simulated matches against other potential contestants. If you score well enough, you're put into the queue and then wait to be called. About 70K people take the on-line test every year.

Instead of seeing a drop in applicants, even more people might start applying, thinking that they too could become millionaires in a couple week's time. Kind of like the rush to buy lottery tickets when the jackpots soar to mega-millions.

If they try making the clues more difficult to stump James, they'll be well beyond the reach of the other players too.
I wonder if the producers will be shuffling the queue to bring the highest-scoring applicants into the game sooner in an effort to unseat this guy?
