I'll go out on a limb and say he will not lose until the show ends. I think Alex is in worse shape than he leads on and I don't see the show continuing after he passes. An amazing run to finish out a Hall of Fame career wouldn't be such a bad way to go out.

When Alex is gone...a good replacement for him would be Brooke Burns. (post#90)
I've seen all 'The Chase' episodes...and she is smart, funny and good to look at. Hopefully Alex will be able to stay for a while yet.

This guy is freaky smart. New player introductions should go something like, "And tonight, vying for 2nd and 3rd places are...".

Tired of this guy. He's getting cocky. (I know he's earned it)

He gets a two week break for an educators series of shows. Betting ratings will plummet until he’s back.

Still going...
In Final Jeopardy the guy has something like 43k and wagers 40k...FTW! He said he majored in online poker and went to class as little as required. |

I've listened to a recent podcast on Planet Money about James and his strategy towards playing. It seems that much of the strategy deals with knowing exactly when to "buzz" in. Granted, the guy knows a LOT of stuff in a LOT of categories which certainly is an advantage.

The only way to beat him is to select the $1000 questions like he does. And of course get the answers right.
You cant start by betting on the $200 question and expect to win. As soon as the women did that tonight I knew she doesn't have it to win.

Noticed he's short on automotive questions. Didn't know what an intake manifold is. I'm sure the producers know this.
So, do they want him to keep winning for ratings?

Doing anything to encourage his loss would stand out like a sore thumb and call the entire game into question.

He actually had a little over $49k and wagered $40k...and second place just happened to have $4600 so even if he lost the final question, he was still going to win. He's cocky, but not stupid.

Seems a bit weak in art & theater too, but he knows SO MUCH about loads of other stuff. Came back strong after the break.

They want him to threaten Ken Jennings' record for consecutive wins. The ratings will go up even more once he gets into the 60s or so.
The only way he can lose is by betting big on daily doubles and final jeopardy, as he always does, but then not knowing the answer. His odds of knowing the answer are high, but not 100%. Those odds will catch up to him eventually.
