Unfortunate for the dead and injured. Gas mains are no joke.

What does the collection consist of?, not familiar with it.

Edit: 2 inches is not a main, surprised by the damage.

Could have been worse had they not evacuated most of the buildings after smelling the gas.

His collection consisted of a pair of 904 GTS's, 550 Spyder, 356 Speedster's, 918, 964RS, Abarth Spyder,Carrera GT and about 30 to 40 other rare Porsche's.

My god that is tragic. Our thoughts and prayers go out the all the folks affected.

My wife and I drove down Duke St. last year when we flew out to visit the region. Great place with great folks.

It looks like most of the damage was next door, so the collection may not be lost.

For sure, a top/bottom tragedy anyway you slice it. Just not seeing anything about the collection mentioned in the thread title.

You can find a video on the Internet that was shot from a helicopter orbiting the buildings. The collections seem to be housed in a building adjacent to the one that was totally destroyed and it suffered a partial ceiling collapse. In some of the videos, you could see through the hole in the ceiling and there were four or five cars visible down below.

It's in the link that was posted. A spokesperson for the Ingram Collection made a statement.

From the video I could make out a yellow RS on the ground floor just behind the rollup door and a silver 904 on one of the upper floors with the roof missing. They both looked ok. Probably some damage, but not totally lost.

This image was posted on Rennlist from a TV snapshot of a local news station coverage via helicopter looking down through the roof:

The real tragedy is the death and injuries to humans. The cars can be fixed. Rare and expensive cars can always be fixed. If the Ferrari Enzo that was ripped in half can be fixed, anything can be restored. It is just money.

Glen is spot on. Lives lost and devastating injuries cannot be restored at any cost or in any length of time. That is the real tragedy here.
I suspect that all of the damaged cars will eventually be repaired to their previous conditions or better.
Still a bloody shame for all involved and the rare cars that were damaged.
