Seems like more restaurants are tired of screaming kids

https://www.foxnews.com/food-drink/restaurant-menu-screaming-children-booted

Quote:
“Children must be seated at all time[s], not left to run around the restaurant,” the note began, as the restaurant can be a "very dangerous place" with the staff carrying hot plates.

“We will not be held responsible for your children if they are hurt in the restaurant because they are not being looked after,” it continued. “Children are the sole responsibility of their guardian whilst in our restaurant.”

Detailing that kids must be accompanied to the restroom – and that little ones under 8 will be served with melamine plates and bowls, as the establishment’s porcelain plates are “served hot” – restaurant management elaborates that though they “love children in the restaurant,” kids who are “crying or screaming” can create a tense, stressful atmosphere for other diners.

“Customers do not come to listen to screaming children, we ask in the most politest [sic] way possible, please if your child is crying/screaming please take them out of the restaurant until they've calmed down,” the memo goes on. “I really do not want to upset anyone, but we have had complaints in the past. You have to understand people do not come out to listen to crying/screaming children.”

“Unfortunately, if a child cannot be stopped from disturbing other diners we will unfortunately have to ask you to leave the restaurant, which we would really hate to do,” the notice finishes. “I know it would offend and we'd hate that too!”
Bravo! The problem is not the child. Its the parents that don't care if their little Egbert ruins everyone elses peace and quiet. When our daughter was little, we gave her a little room but if she kept on or started to wail, we took her home out of consideration for everyone else. She was not the perfect angel and tantrums were address with measures not so subtle and as such happened rarely if ever.

Yea, since I have no kids so I am a great expert in kids

I truly can't fathom why parents take their brats to an expensive nice normally quiet restaurant and just let em scream and yell like they are on the playground outside. And somehow they always seat the crying baby next to my table.

I do understand parents want to go out to eat in a nice place, but hire a babysitter, or eat at McDonalds or Chuck E Cheese.

As someone with 6+ kids at home. If I get a sitter and go out to dinner I do NOT want to listen to someone else's kids screaming.

If I go out with my kids I expect them to be behaved as well! McD's excluded.

My wife used to teach elementary ages, and understands how a kid's brain works.

Bring something to occupy your child's attention!!

If we're going to meet friends with small children, my wife stocks her purse with toys/gadgets/whatever that keeps the kids quiet & happy.
We're continually surprised how many parents just show up without the slightest thought about how they expect children to act while adults sit still, talking.
Children have short attention spans, plan accordingly.

I cant wait to eat out at a normal restaurant again. Little guy is almost 2, and it is not an enjoyable experience for us at all . We just avoid it till ,we can go alone.

On a related note: Here in Seattle, where there are more dogs than children, many people act like it's their god-given right to take their obnoxious dogs in to any business they please. Coffee shops, any restaurant with outdoor seating, hardware stores, grocery stores... i don't get it.

Send a message via AIM to Gogar
In Europe they have a similar sign for the Americans who are talking loud and telling the whole restaurant about their day.

When our kids were small, we ate out often. I tole my wife that kids will have to learn to behave at a young age. Since a couple of months after they were born, we took them out and trained them. Sure there are times we have to take them outside, but it was manageable and issues addressed. We never allow them to run or walk around the restaurant. Oh yeah, parenting takes work like keeping their kids entertained at restaurants sy simply just talking to them

Exactly. Our kids were not allowed to disrupt adults or misbehave in public. It's called discipline and teaching respect (I know, obsolete concepts in today's every-little-snowflake-gets-a-1st-place-trophy society).

When I was a youngin', there was a time we were out at a restaurant and some stranger paid our tables bill leaving a comment that they enjoyed seeing a well behaved family.

However, there is an element of kids will be kids, even with the best ability of parenting.

In that case take the kid(s) outside.

Nope. Either the dog goes or I go (and either one will suit me just fine).
Where is that sign...

Funny, same here. I sometimes think, I dont know the way to handle the screamer but I'm sure its not the current action. Who knows, I might be the worst parent ever. But that doesnt mean I dont have an opinion.

Neither can I.

We never took our kids to nice places when they were little and could not sit and behave. As in under 4-5 years old if memory is correct. The youngest is 15 now and a foodie. We actually drove 700 miles a few weeks ago to try a restaurant we saw on Triple D.

When we did go to louder places like sports bars or pubs of FGI Fridays type of places, I can remember taking turns walking outside with the kid because it was not about sitting at a table for over an hour.

We would NEVER take a baby or small child to a high end place, never. One of our favorite places is in Tampa called Berns Steakhouse, we took a long break from going there until our younger son was old enough to both behave an appreciate the experience.... and yes that place is an experience.

Bravo to that restaurant for laying down the law.

I would rather sit in a restaurant full of dogs than kids.

We just did a road trip to St. Augustine and took our dog because we read it was dog friendly there.

We only ate at Dog friendly restaurants. You can look it up online. For dinner Saturday night there were probably 7 - 8 dogs in the outside eating area. Not one bark and they were all just chilling out.

When I acted up pops would ask me if wanted to go have "fellowship ". To this day I don't know what "fellowship"" actually was. Only that I wanted no part of it.

I eat out every night, and don't go to family restaurants. I like kids, but don't want any around when I'm dining.
