Jolly, very interesting! Thank-you! I guess the only thing the engineer doesn't do is steer! ;-)

GO DAWG, those are great pictures. I'm surprised you were able to get that close with no big crowds in your images. Nice work, and I wish I would have been there.

I love these AIRRAIL videos. Gosh, the weather for this run has just been great.

I'll bet a lot of railroad modelers are burning the midnight oil and a lot of cash putting together replicas of the train represented on this run.

I have the 844 and a lot of the cars but I doubt I will get a Big Boy or a diesel to go with them. I have too much stuff already.

Have you ever seen a train run over a 930? LOL. This was taken the day of the Porsche Timeline at Lake Arrowhead.

This is some of the stuff I'm doing to my mountain home...These Big Boys are 5 feet long.

The weather was rough this year and is getting better so I can get back to work! I still obviously have landscaping to do! I don't live at this home full time, so I can only mess around with it 2 days a week max! I have repainted the house since, the weather is brutal! I do have some pretty cool rail snow plows...LOL

Emissions and pilot-less locomotives:

I pass a major switching yard and a facility that unloads domestic autos (from Detroit I guess) aimed for the west coast market. All streets, along with the tracks I'm able to see, are covered in warning signs that the locomotives may not be piloted. I suspect that they ARE piloted, but from a remote location. And these are HUGE locomotives.

And re emissions, the locomotives around So Cal no longer "look" like the soot emitting engines of old. And I believe they cannot idle forever like they used to.

There is usually someone near by on the ground controlling the locomotive. They could be near the other end of the train coupling or uncoupling cars.

You guys in the flyover states are pretty lucky, because this bad boy is coming to some tracks near you!!

I couldn't find anything in the schedule for upcoming runs through the PNW. I sure do hope I get a chance to see her run in my area someday....

It is in West Chicago, ( a western suburb of Chicago), on display Saturday and Sunday. My oldest son and I are going to see it tomorrow morning.

More photos - you could touch the engine and get grease and oil on your hands. When the wisthle blew, you got sprinkled with water drops. I know what a million pounds look like. There was a tanker truck fill with oil to replenish the engine. Everyone was polite - My son and I enjoyed the expereince.
