Is it time to adjust the photo size limit on Pelican?
Yeah, I know... more storage = more cost. However, anyone with a modern smartphone cannot directly upload a pic due to the 5mp limit... that was started many, many years ago when we were all carrying flip phones. Would be nice to just drop a photo in from my phone without having to resize it.

I don’t even know how to resize pictures.

I don't have a smartphone so I don't know, but can't the settings be changed on the phone so all pic's are say 3mp?
|
Agreed....I can't resize on my phone....so I don't even post cute puppy pics. That's just SO wrong :(
Bigger boobies too ;)! |
You can download a “resizer” app on your phone if you want to resize pictures. I upload pictures on here from my phone and have never had to resize one.

5mp is great for print, but for web it is way overkill. Not only that but full size 5mp images would stretch the screen, etc.

The software should also be updated to allow other than jpg, gif and bmp files. |
But I gotta update my phone to do that too!

One option, get the app, Tapatalk. It lets you upload a photo, and you can specify how big it is on screen. The bad news of that is the photo is not upload to Pelican, it goes to the Tapatalk site, and is deleted after a several months, so if you look at the thread a later, the image is gone and it is just a box where the photo was. The one good think about Tapatalk photos is it will not upload the photo sideways or upside down.
For most photos I prefer to use my computer anyway. Photos taken at your house will most likely have your Geo-location in the photo. So it is easy to figure out just where you were when the photo was taken. If you are out and about in a public place it does not matter. It you are shooting pictures of your gun collection or cars at home, it is not a good idea. Once the photo is on the net, it is in the wild and out there. Who knows what bad guy will get it. I use a Windows 10 computer. It is easy to strip the photo location info. Right click on the photo, and go to properties at the bottom of the list, look for Details tab at the top of the properties box, At the bottom of the window is a blue link "Remove Properties and Personal Information" so click that. That brings up yet another box. Just click the second of two choices, the Remove the following properties from the file. Now the easiest is hit select all, or you can scroll down You will find the GPS location, select those and click the OK button. The GPS info is deleted, but the camera exposure and other info is preserved. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1559653801.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1559653828.JPG It is fairly easy to find out the location of that photo of the 918 was a parking lot in Eureka Springs It was shot on 11/11/2017, it was shot with an iPhone 6S F/22 1/420th exposure, ISO 25, 29mm lens. |

Only way it makes sense if it happens on the uploaders side. |

It's not a big deal, nor would it cost much....by comparison to folks like me saying....see ya :(! |
And furthermore....if I get stuck in desktop mode for the eleventieth dozen time on my damn phone...how can I post a pic of of the door hittin' my azz on the way out?
I demand a refund...or else ;)! |
