Midnight Auto Supply

A nice area of N. Santa Monica last night. Wow!

I wonder how long that took and what the insurance claim will be. I've seen wheels stolen but never a whole front end.

Wow, thats amazing.

My neighbor had his pickup tailgate stolen. His wife was sitting in the truck with a baby in the car seat, he had gone into the H ome Depot. They stole the tailgate with her sitting in the truck. Quite brazen by the thieves.

You have to go to the nice neighborhoods, that's where all the good stuff is.

Can probably get that off without turning a single bolt. All plastic push pins . A couple of trim popper tools, and you are good to go .

That is the perfect reason to have a garage to park the vehicles inside.

So many garages have $400 worth of crap filling them, and a 40K vehicle parked outside.

I remember the old days of T-tops getting stolen constantly. The insurance companies stopped it easily. No more used T-tops allowed, only new. The market was saturated with excess inventory of T-tops. The price dropped to zero, the thefts stopped.

A car left on the side of the Belt Pkwy in NYC will be stripped down to the frame if left more than an hour at night. Doors, hoods, seats, dash, motor, trans... 4 guys in a cargo van with a compressor and jacks. Pros

Yup, looks like at least they unplugged it rather than cutting all the connectors off with the front clip. Theives probably have a truck to put the parts on before they steal them.
Had a 1995 Chevy pickup that got the front stolen off it like that, but they cut the wiring, so I had some soldering to do. Tailgates are not cheap, and they are very easy to steal.

That must be why there are no Boxster hard tops FS. Used to be 10 years ago you could buy one for a grand in your color all day long.

I agree about the garages except for me. All the garages on my street are not used for cars spare one, an old fart with a Prius. I've got 2 cars in my garage, one on the street because the driveway is too steep for anything but my truck. It sits behind a locked gate with lights and alarms everywhere.

I think the secret is to drive a 20 YO Merc.

My dad tells a story from 1962 in Trinidad. They had a Chevy with a carb that wasn't working right. So they go to an auto parts place and ask for a new carb.

"Don't have one right now, but we'll have one after lunch".

I'm sure you know where this is heading. They go for lunch and then come back. Car won't start. Carb has been stolen. They had to buy back their own carb.

When a new Toyota SUV lightly T-boned my Tundra, the entire front end popped off. Quite a surprise.

Where's the engine, and how did they remove the radiator without spilling any coolant?
Smells fishy to me.

A few years back a good friend called me one morning and said the battery was dead on his F150 4x4 and needed a jump. I hooked up the cables and still nothing.

His starter was missing.

What a nightmare. If you went down and ordered all the parts individually, you'd probably spend 1/3 of what the truck cost new. (Hyperbole, but it's gotta be a lot!) All the little clips and screws and bulbs and plastic geegaws. I wonder if that's a total in the mind of the insurance adjuster.

I swear I know that wall in the background with the hedge on it. Somewhere up on 18th St north of Montana Ave is my guess.
I grew up in SM, place has really gone down hill IMO. I wouldn't want to live there now. Way too crowded.
