Well done film. Enjoyed it but thought it strange basically no comments about Mick Ronson being in the band other than the comment about Dylan never spoke to him.
Seeing briefly Mick Standing on a stage clapping and singing will the circle be unbroken gave me a chuckle. That guy was such a team player and talent |

Yeah, the Patti Smith thing was kind of ugly. She was the female Jim Morrison up there, 'specially when the band had to start riffing to help her out.. But all in all I'm liking it, a great journey back.

I'm good with that. I feel no need to try and stretch every damn thing in the world of art to something it might not be at all. As I said, I need to watch the rest (about half) before launching any critique of my own. However, and as with many of you, I was there in real time. He is only 4 years older than I. |

I’ve never read anything into Dylan lyrics or anyone else’s for that matter. Never quite understood peoples obsession with doing that.
How he remembers them all is a mystery to me. I’ve never ever heard him mess up a lyric though the past decade one could argue you’d never know if he did. Last 4 times I saw him he was great but I can admit I couldn’t understand a word he said. Haha love bob regardless. Always has a great band with him Last edited by ramonesfreak; 06-13-2019 at 08:38 AM.. |

If you're gonna tell everyone that you know your song well before you start singin' you gotta be able to back it up.

Never cared for Dylan at all. Passable song writer, average musician, horrible singer

Well nothing wrong with having a subjective opinion but only a passable songwriter he certainly is not by any objective standard.
That’s like saying Dylan Thomas or Walt Whitman are hacks |

well I have to scratch my head when people don’t like someone’s art or product and therefor conclude that they are lacking in talent
I’m perfectly capable of saying while I can not stand Steve Vai’s guitar playing or writing, I can agree he is an amazing talent. Just not for me Maybe because I’ve been a musician for 35 years I see the art form differently Not gonna argue with ya. Fine, you dont like Dylan and think he sucks woot woot |

This is what you said, preserved now in the record for all eternity...... “passable song writer”.
I bet if Dylan had the pleasant singing voice of John Prine you would never refer to him as being a passable song writer. But because you don’t like Dylan’s voice or whatever else, you conclude and find it necessary to let us know that you think Dylan’s song writing talent is only passable. I highly doubt it’s because you’ve spent the time reading and listening to all of Dylan’s ENORMOUS catalogue and concluded that he is not an incredible song writer. After all, if you never cared for him at all, why would you spend the time to do so Last edited by ramonesfreak; 06-13-2019 at 03:13 PM.. |

Dylan, for whatever reason and I couldn't be happier, had an impact on my musical tastes and how I viewed song writing; both the writing and the musical expression, the song writ large.
His voice coupled with his lyrics were magical to me. I know why it was then and the fact that it may not be the same today. I'm good. The 'Infidels' album came out while I was in flight school, produced by Mark Knopfler. "Sweetheart Like You" remains in my heart.

Interesting thread here
Bob Dylan Wish Dottore was still here so we could chat more about the never ending tour I did end up going to the show in 2012 and Dylan was great that night. Played killer versions of Thunder On The Mountain and Things Have Changed, a personal favorite of mine
