Up All Night

My sleep habits are all upside down. I'm up and wide awake at 3- 4 AM and done for the day by 4 PM. After dinner I fall asleep and by 10PM I'm wide awake. I use a CPAP breathing machine when I do sleep. I wish I could stay up until 10PM, sleep until 6AM and spend the whole day feeling alive.

On another note. This morning I brought home a second 2 yard load of composted horse manure for the garden. Mrs WD wasn't real thrilled with helping to unload the first trailer full. She showed her facebook friends what she thought of it by dragging out my old .22 having me take a picture of her shooting the sh**t while I shoveled the sh**t. Good times. She is the reason i live.

Your cup is flowing over bud! Fun.

I fell asleep at 6:30 yesterday. Woke up at five

On a side note, what .22 is that?

DO NOT fall asleep after dinner.

I know this because I've had the same thing myself - really annoying.

Remain vertical as long as possible, then go to bed at 10:00, not before.

It's all about setting your body clock.

It's a bolt action Stevens that I paid about $25 for brand new in about 1965. I think it was designed as a WW II training rifle. I am ready for the revolution!

Funny. I sometimes have similar issues.

Currently, I have monster allergies. I have been taking Allegra for relief. It is an antihistamine.

I have been going to bed at 10 and up at 5-6.

I have high hopes that this continues after the meds.

Good luck!!!

Here it is, midnight and I’m wide awake. I slept from 9 to 10:30. The contractor will be here to start setting tile a 8, so it looks like another long day tomorrow.

Set a time you want to get up, a time you want to go to bed.

Stick with it.

If you have the option, lower what you have to do on each day so you can spend more time just out walking.

Out walking on a path during the time you should be awake will make it easier.

Trying to do work in place while drowsy will lead to being closer to temptation of lieing out too soon.

Long light sustainable exercise each morning and afternoon should kick you into a habit of being up during the day, which will help with not being up at night.

You may also want to assess bed/mattresses/pillows/background noise and do some experimental work to sleep better.

I would say it is likely too much interaction with people you would rather not deal with, so you unconsciously are shifting your awake hours to not deal with them.

If the text in green is actually true, try to delegate those people to some one else, or back them off your schedule.

I do the part in green, and have come to recognize I do it.

I solve it by being pro-active in my communication with them, which keeps them from contacting me with questions since I set up regular meeting time and time I am off limits from contact.

Excercise hard every day. Lay off the alcohol. Get off of Xanax, antidepressants (unless absolutely necessary) and pain killers. Reduce salt and sugar intake. This took me about six months and was a royal PIA. But:

1) You will sleep like a baby.

2) Life will be so much more enjoyable.

For someone like me, reducing salt intake is a bad thing.

Depending on where someone is with their salt intake
reduction might not be advice to give.

Those two are mutually exclusive. I can hardly walk without naproxin, 600 mg a day.
Right now my problem is stress. I have to fix up my old house to sell it, and fix up my new house to make it the place I want to live in. Working my ass off with constant arthritis pain, and thinking about what I should be doing instead every time I sit down to rest.

Scratch walking then, but there may still be some way to up exercise.

I thought you had just finished re-doing your old house?

Since you are making changes to sell, and not for yourself, perhaps just hire someone you don't have to meet with to take care of it all.

One less thing and a lot less people to bother you.

You need to change, or self-induced stress will wipe it all out Patrick. You will suck at first, it's against your very nature, but ya gotta start somewhere imo...and practice .

Who's driving this bus?

I jest about this, but am also serious...

This is spot on IMHO.
I did this exact thing a year ago, combined with getting a CPAP, and it has made a (sorry)
night and day difference in the quality of my life. An added benefit is I went from getting up a couple of times to take a leak, to not getting up at all.
I sleep sooo much better, that urge doesn't even wake me up.
