The first class ticket (actually business first- it's American Airlines) would have cost $6,500. No one would give it up for $1,500. Unrestricted coach costs more than that.

I don't get why this is even a discussion topic.
dude is tall seats are cramped he tried to upgrade by paying a shorter person some cash Didn't work, he went back to his cramped seat... oh well. It's not like some behemoth smothered a normal person by having fat flaps infringe on other people's space...

Don't we all set limits to what we are willing to pay?
Maybe he didn't have more on him?? Cant barter with paper checks, people won't go for that, you gots to dangle the greens in front of their nose for such deals
