Get a Smithey. Not cheap but you won't regret it.

Not entirely true. There are modern cast iron makers doing it old school. The Field Company makes one. Lighter, smooth, and fairly expensive.

If I was Superman, I would hit up that local foundry, BluSkillet and throw my credit card thru the door.

I wonder what tool I would use. Plain ol' bench grinder?

Whoa! Sounds like French chefs stand in line to get lottery tickets to buy those. Those are forged, and too spendy for me. Glad craftsmen still exist. I was hoping for a rectangular stove-top pancake griddle. Seasoned cast iron. For a yard sale price. Like my skillets. I really don't need the grilling side, as I use my skillets for steak-frying. I have a method.

Every video my friend and I saw used an Avanti Pro paint stripping disc. He went and bought one from Lowe’s. My feeble memory recalls him using his corded drill.

And eye protecting and HALF MASK RESPIRATOR.

Okay. Interesting. I may try that. Eye protection, of course. For respiration, I'd likely just do it outside. I do like the griddle. Here is the other side.

Ha! Instead of Bruntmor, they should call themselves Burntmor.

I may try that. For $20 or $35 or whatever, I will generally eat it rather than send it back. But if $10 in tooling and 1 hour gets me what I want, great.

Well, I know nothing about cast iron cookware, but I do know about making dust. To me it would make sense to wet sand? Amazon sells wet sanding diamond disks in varying grits for not alot of money.

I used the Avanti disc plus 40 grit sanding discs using my electric Hilti drill.
I did the work outside wearing a respirator.
Lots of YouTube videos on the subject

I imagine then a 6" RA sander would work as well?
