It must be horrible in Europe with 100+ temps, and so little air conditioning and so little ice in drinks. I can't imagine. It would be a challenge to air condition some building built before there was a USA or before the calendar had more than three digits in the year.

Like most people that live in a hot area, AC is the best invention of all, after electricity and bottled beer.

We jsut go from AC car to AC buildings just like the reverse of the Yankees in winter. And I will take 110 heat index any day over the -35 like Chicago had last winter any day.

I am going to visit the national severe storms lab in Norman, OK today. It will be interesting.

Disrespectful.....LOL......

Yes, I have some of the Frog Togs, Jim and they work OK for a very brief period but on days the humidity is high, they are not as effective.

My strategies are:

1. Avoid working outside as much as possible from May through October

2. Work in very short segments - then beat it back inside the truck and run the AC or go back home to re-group as needed

3. Bring plenty to drink & towels to wipe sweat off

4. Bring and eat fruit such as bananas and watermelon and trail bars kept in a cooler

5. Wear big straw hats

6. Coordinate as much as possible to work in the shade and avoid working in direct sun at hottest time of the day.

7. Charge as much as possible - maybe even more - for any work done during this time of year (which helps sustain rule #1)

According to my weather app we are comfy on the verge of sticky. Disrespectful comes in August and September. July is typically oppressive.

I just finished up, my other crew should be right behind me. Just as the index was going triple digits.

I have a 3 step plan.

1. Drink lots of water.

2. Start early get back early. My day is 50% field 50% office I am now riding a desk until about 5 - 6 PM.

3. Stay covered up, long sleeves and a floppy hat.

I do not get to choose when I work on projects I take them as they come. I always seem to be on the beach in the winter and in the swamps in the summer.

Never fails. If I get one of those rare days when I am on the beach in the summer I celebrate.

just spent time in VA and SC. Thinking I prefer my 105 with 5% humidity in Scottsdale to 90 degrees and 50% humidity there.

Back in the 80's I was on summer vacation from my teaching job and flew out to Denver to spend a week with my chick who had a place in Taos. This was in July. She picked me up at the airport and I remember seeing one of those bank signs that alternates between temp and time. It said the temp was 100 degrees. While it was hot - I remember thinking - "This seems more like 80's than 100's."

Then we drove north of Boulder and into the mountains and there was snow on the ground - same day. Nice and cool at night....almost chilly.

Well that left an impression. What a beautiful state!

I’ve lived in the snow belt, too. No bueno.

The 40s to 80s work for me. I’m a senior citizen and I suck at temperature extremes.

FIL is 73 years old, Army Vet, he heads down to the DMV for blood work and a full physical every year.

His blood work comes back stellar every damn time. cholesterol levels great everything good.

He eats Wendy's a few times a week. We tease him about that.

He is also not retired because he does not want to sit still, he loves his job and would be lost if he was not there. He manages a Cabinet Manufacturing shop with about 30-40 employees. No AC he sweats his ass off every day.

My wife and I are convinced all the sweating is what keeps him so clean, he is filtering out all the toxins in his system every day.

Nice old photos of Colorado, Baz! It’s a beautiful state but it’s getting hotter.

It’s been the coolest year I can remember here in SoCal. We’ve only had one short heatwave. I’m not complaining.

Said the ski resorts are still open.

Here in Chicago, summer arrived on Tuesday. The temp finally reached into the mid to upper 80s. It still rains almost everyday, but summer finally arrived. On a more positive note I just got my electric bill and it is half of what it normally should be for this time of year. I just turned the air on this past Monday.

The weather is certainly crazy this year.

It has just taken that long to warm up for the coldest temperature in Chicago in 34 years (-23°) was recorded on the morning of January 30, 2019 during a bitter cold couple of days.

we actually had a nice spring here in Md. Seems like past several years it went from winter to summer. This year was a nice break. It's def. summer now though.

Honestly, I don't feel like spring ever arrived. That January day was very cold.
