It worked! 1996 with 114k miles - good friend on mine, a retired Marine LtCol I worked with for years, bought it in 1997 and has owned it since. He is moving to Florida and asked if I was interested.
I was real coy ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Welcome to the club! Mud (essentially the Pelican of the LC world) is all you'll need.
Timely thread as I've got an itch to replace my Slee'd 100 with an 80 found here locally. Decisions decisions... |

I have a 94.
Love almost everything about it. Not too crazy about the acceleration and the gas mileage. Its slow, but at least it gets horrible mileage!!

Funny. We had a '68 Series 40 when I was a kid: THAT was slow!
It will be an around town semi DD that I'll move to short road trips when I get comfortable with it and get it sorted...I put a lot of miles on my Tundra in the last five years and want to put in a relief driver. Mud is interesting.

IH8Mud is the technical equivalent of the 911 forum. Simply an amazing resource.

It drinks gas like Dean Martin at Friars roast, but we love it. Managed to squeak out 16 on the way home from Denver.

Good buy! That is the car for the zombie apocalypse, nothing much tougher than a 80 Series
This is my Toyota collection ![]() Struggling to mentally make a change from my 215k mile, white 4Runner, been my daily driver for the last 5 years, driven the family across Europe many times. It runs like a dream, doors and front wings are rusty but it just keeps on going ![]()

I'm on my second LC. IH8mud is the ticket. Except my cruiser never breaks!
You get to think about a PHH. (Pesky heater hose) Enjoy and congrats! |

I'm on my second Cruiser as well. First one was a '71 FJ40 that I sold to a coworker almost ten years ago. Current is a '93 80 Series. It's a "triple locker" with a dealer installed hidden winch and brush bar, and a me installed Old Man Emu 3" lift. Mileage averages about 11 mpg, no matter how I drive it. Thank God I don't have to drive it every day, but when I need it, I can't think of much else as capable off-road as one of these things.

Hello fellow LC and 80 Series friends
![]() Here's my 94 with a 2.5" OME lift, MetalTech 4x4 sliders, and ARB bumper. 'Mud is definitely the go-to source for everything Land Cruiser. ![]() For those of you that have a 93-94, I'd also suggest buying a spare air flow meter. They're the kiss of death for our trucks if it goes to hell.
