The new Top Gear

What say you? Thumbs up? Thumbs down? Meh?

Terrible. Those two dumb jocks are unintelligible and always beating on poor Chris Harris who is the only car guy on the program.

Two of them are obvious eye candy for the female crowd. I saw some of the episode where they drove 3 old cars (including a sad Porsche Boxster) through the mountains on dirt roads. I never did get the point of the show.

I'm watching that episode right meow. Kinda hard to understand those two fellows at times.

Not sure yet. Watched the preview last night and started episode 1 but only got 5 minutes in. The two new "blokes" sure have strong regional British dialects going on. I'm glad Harris is still there, not sure on the new guys yet.

I enjoyed the last season with LeBlanc, it wasn't bad at all IMO.

I voted that "it sucks" and it doesn't get any better. After being totally turned off by the first two episodes in the new season, I decided to give it one more try. Now that I have given it another chance is was the third strike. I'm done with it.

The whole idea/premise is too tired to continue.

It would be interesting to find out what percentage of the citizens of Great Britain can easily understand the two jocks. I had to turn on closed captioning to figure out most of what they say.

Find some car guys, that know how to speak without such a strong regional accent. I understand there is a difference in accent from villages just 30 miles apart. That means thousands of accents. Some are so strong as to be gibberish to anyone else.

I have not seen the latest episode, but since they got rid of the redhead it's been a better show.

I like Chris and Matt. That said the show will never be what it once was. Even the GT could never recreate the magic that was TOP GEAR.

I was really hoping that the new series would be Chris Harris, Rory Reid, and some third newcomer. I think not promoting Reid is a travesty as I really enjoyed him and it was obvious that he had real car knowledge.

The two new guys are a comedian named Paddy McGuiness (I kid you not) and a former cricket player named Freddie Flintoff. I think it has potential. I missed the first 15 minutes as my DVR didn't recognize it as a show that I have a recording schedule for. I think the first show was "meh" but I'll let them get their act together. I'll give them two seasons to get their crap together, because that's about as long as it took for Clarkson, May, and Hammond to put on a good show.

Matt LeBlanc left because he was spending 6 months a year in the U.S. doing a sitcom and six months a year in the U.K. doing Top Gear, and it was wearing on him.

I also see that the U.S. version of Top Gear is changing staff and channels again. That's too bad as I enjoyed both previous versions (treating them as obscure U.S. car shows rather than comparing them to the mother ship). I guess the good news is that Adam Carolla is joining the new one.

Clarkson, May, and Hammond it will never be so they should throw in the towel, and the American version should have been trashed after the first episode.

I didn't know there was a new version either as I quit watching a year or two ago.

But I stubbed across the show yesterday with new people. So I invested a few minutes, what the heck I said to myself.
I ended up watching the while show, and set the dvr to record the series whenever a new episode shows up.

No, it isn't Clarkson and crew. but it is many times better than the last few versions they came up with.
Not as contrived, more crass and irreverent but I liked it.
Car guys being car guys, not celebrities pretending to be car guys.

I actually LOL'ed a few times, I figured it was time well spent compared to whatever else was on.

Thanks for voting guys...I didn't vote in my own poll, but I'm a "meh", tilting towards thumbs down. Figure I'll watch a spell, see how thing jell...

I just checked this show out and subscribed. Really good videos. I like the fact that he gets you out on the road and you hear the sounds from the engine and transmission. I just watched the episode of the green Miura and I cringed when he was going through a small town in traffic and a tractor passed going in the opposite direction, million dollar car in tractor traffic!!!
Not meaning to hijack the post here, but thanks for turning me on to “Harry’s Garage”.

While still not a fan of the new hosts there were a couple good segments and the season ending feature on the Lotus 79 'ground effects' F1 car was awesome!!
I'll still keep watching the show even though I don't much like the new hosts. They still have great production value and some cool cars.
