I met Richard Stine at an arts festival on Union St in SF almost 30 years ago and purchased a black and white version of this one. Super nice guy- he said "would you like me to sign it?" I said "sure." He cut his finger on the framing clips and a couple of spots of blood were on the back. He drew an arrow pointing to them and wrote "Artist's blood." This is a colorized version:
![]() I reached out to him later on through his website to get his "Workings of the Common Dog" and he said he was starting to airbrush his cartoons and would I like one of those. I said "sure" and got one, which was nicer. Not like this one, but you get the idea. ![]()

I remember seeing Gahan Wilson's stuff and finding it interesting.
![]() I've always liked Bloom County, also a lot of the stuff in Mad magazine and CarToons (Krass and Bernie were always entertaining).

Howard Shoemaker & I were pen pals since the mid 60's, after I answered one of his Pano ads. He wouldn't allow a computer in his house...but despite this, I always welcomed a snail mail. We solved many of our problems this way...guess you could say we were each other's shrinks. He died at age 85...
Don't drool over the posters. He'd glued them to the bricks of his garage. ![]()

If I could draw worth a crap I'd have submitted this somewhere many years ago. Unfortunately, even by horrible cartoon standards (most of the ones posted here are far from horrible, but there's some pretty poor cartoon drawings in this world) my skills are embarrassingly bad. Oh, and my spelling is actually pretty good - the error is intentional.
