MT produces new propeller for P-51 Mustang (as serviceable ones are getting scarce). The photo looks like an A-36 Mustang...

B-21 Raider passed flight test regime and low rate production to start.
The next level stealth stuff its based on evidently works.

Weather flashbacks.
This is, for a helicopter pilot, the worse: Marginal VFR, fake horizons, etc. I took these a few minutes ago while out with the dog. When I got to Pax River as a LT after my first tour in San Diego, I had over two thousand hours. This was different: Farm field for reference. There is almost no terrain across the Potomac. ![]() ![]() You want to peek. ![]()

I know you have also seen how much fun this becomes at night. Only solace is the false horizon is removed. This weather on a no moon night, blue-water operations in the Atlantic behind the boat can lead to elevated heart rates. Just saying. Worse taxiing on the flight deck over the top of the bow cat shuttle...
Fying in this at night landing on a small boy? Nope, nope, not for me.

Ran across this YouTube channel called "Growler Jams" tonight; thought you all might enjoy it. These are short cockpit clips with narration from the pilot.

On this day in 1970 a pilot flying an F-106 suddenly went into an uncontrollable flat spin forcing the pilot to eject. Due to the change in balance caused by the ejection the aircraft recovered on its own and made a landing in an empty field in Big Sandy, MT.
The aircraft was repaired and returned to service. ![]()

Or that F-35 front lift duct is full reversible with a red button. Force the spin into a dive.

A decade before Amelia Earhart, the US Navy plan was to fly three sea planes across the Atlantic, with the support of 21 destroyers in a row with fuel and lights for support.
Nothing but a series of disasters happened. https://archive.is/ysqtk Who Flew Across The Atlantic First? The Airborne Boats Of 1919 ![]() ![]()

There are pages and pages on this controversy.
Your inception may be differnt them my perception. https://veritastechpilotacademy.org/2024/01/10/the-dei-rot-in-the-airline-industry-is-way-worse-than-you-think/ https://calaero.edu/diversity-equity-inclusion-dei-aviation/ https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/united-sets-new-diversity-goal-50-of-students-at-new-pilot-training-academy-to-be-women-and-people-of-color-301262479.html https://dailycaller.com/2024/01/29/dei-airlines-planes-boeing/ https://unherd.com/thepost/dei-air-traffic-control-safety/ These are YOUR NEW airline pilots , ATC, and mechanics, or why do planes crash? Do you have to have fairness rather than achievement? I think that's the issue.

Funny, by their own statements, and a couple of cover-ups, I do think it is just BS.
Did you even read some of the pages? Or is this a knee-jerk reflection of an answer for most things that you dont comprehend?

The problem is , the situation is called a differnt name, but the same as affirmative action where the underqualified is given a pass.
We now find this problem in all sorts of trades.

Recently I had the pleasure of waiting in a supermarket line behind a giant balloon butt in neon spandex.
Her six foot tall sixteen yo daughter was curled up inside the tiny cart, glued to a phone, staying very very quiet. The computers for self-checkout were down so the entire store funneled into two long lines. Some people walked out with their kids and groceries. The redhead cashier was having trouble scanning the QR code on this woman's phone while working the screen. Woman was doing some sort of grocery delivery. Meanwhile she was talking at the cashier, continuously, in a low growling voice which I didn't hear. (There was an extended line behind us) Eventually two other employees came over and fixed the problem. 10 out of the 15 minutes which I spent in that damn lane next to the belt was this woman muttering "cashier disrespectful" "rude" "manager" "not moving". That type of personality is not needed in the airline industry: A). ATC traffic control doesn't need to "prove herself correct" as to the internet definition of "Short leg final" and berate a pilot while he's flying precisely to the ground and working ten different systems. B). And if she thinks a heavy jumbo is going to cut leg turns like a little GA Cessna, she is completely out of touch with reality.

![]() I wouldn’t say it’s a knee jerk reaction, more of an annoyance of people who parrot opinions of influencers who don’t know what they’re talking about. I don’t need the Carlsons and Rogans and Bannons of the world to inform my comprehension of the airline industry and how we hire and train pilots. My 26 years flying for airlines, 17 of those as a captain serve me just fine in that regard. I’ve flown with literally thousands of pilots of every gender, race, orientation, and background/experience level and I’m telling you what you’re posting is a bunch of bull***t. Our standards are apolitical, agnostic, and detached from the motives of those that want to draw us into some kind of culture war campaign. Just leave us out of it, please and thank you. ![]() |

The airline industry has historically been the safest and most fuel efficient way to move people from point A-B.
The system has worked. Most pilots, actually tens of thousands are now above us flying people and cargo throughout the world, are not of the 'privileged' type. And almost every single one is exceptional. Because of existing standards.
