Well... a car forum discussing one hit wonders has to include Nervous Norvous' "Transfusion."

I hope some of you guys don't have these songs in your library or playlist.
![]() ![]() Novelty songs, as they were called in the 50's and 60's, sometimes got a large following for subsequent titles. The Chipmunk Song (David Seville) was one of those. Ray Stevens, the cat that did "Ahab the Arab" had quite a few but A the A stood out and was his first billboard hit. Hello Mudda, Hello Faddah was a comedy/song by Alan Sherman and he tried a few others. The point I make is that some artists have made many songs but one and only one topped the charts (in the Top 40 sense). A perfect example of that is "I can Help" by Billy Swan. The list of artists and bands that Swan worked with is huge as are the names. Billy Swan was prolific but the song is generally recognized as being Swan's only major hit single release. Of course there was the movie that shared the theme of the title of this thread. Incidentally, the title song for the movie was a scant 'one hit wonder'. |

Mojo Nixon is FAR from a one hit wonder!
Here's a band made up of performers from other major bands (XTC, Gang of Four), then turned into a weird one hit wonder. Although...searching for this video I see that they're STILL touring! 35 years later!

You're right, but that's not what this thread is about.

Ah...but both the thread title and the first post make it clear that it must be BOTH weird, AND a one hit wonder (otherwise, the word "or" would have been used!). Therefore, Mojo Nixon is verbotten! He was weird, but not a one hit wonder!
