you will never fall short of finding a new BAD boss.

was just talking with an ex coworker (retired because of boss) about the Ahole we worked for.
I wish I had the time and energy to tell all.
just put it this way, it was not uncommon for the secretary to come down stairs crying.

and yes, we caught him in many lies.

problem with him he was yelling at you minute and then your best buddy the next. it was an emotional roller coaster because you never new which boss your were going to get. .

Pete told us years ago...

Must be sad to live in your world where the truth is a grey area.

How did lying in this case help the boss? He gets caught and looks like an a-hole and for what? I have more respect for a boss who would step up and say "compensation is dealt with on a 1 on 1 basis, and other peoples compensation is not your concern." I may not agree with it and may make a change but at least THAT'S the real truth.

Boss tried to cop out the easy way and lie and look where it got him.

The trouble with lies is they require tending to. The truth stays the same irrespective of situations and is low to no maintenance.

Two points, I would never lie to my employees unless it was to spare their feelings, and I just gave two employees raises, one of them big to adjust for their level. This in a huge downturn when so many are laid off.

I also took a huge pay cut and make less than some employees to balance out the times we live in.

If you are unhappy move on.

this Is how petty the Ahole was I worked for.

I parked sideways waaaay out in the parking lot ONCE, he told me air traffics union had an issue with me parking like that (BTW they parked like that sometimes). I went to the union rep and asked him if he said anything, he laughed and I said I don't care where you park.

it was not uncommon for him to come down stairs late in the day. he would say, "well back upstairs to work"(or something like that). then walk out the front door and go home.
I guess he thought we would all leave if we new he was not there.

All bosses lie. Get over it and do your job and if your not happy, look for something else and when you get something new perhaps give this boss a chance to explain before you officially leave....or do nothing

My first real job after school I had an interview and I asked if working on the weekends was expected. Boss said no way unless there was an emergency.

I take job and first Friday comes. At 5 when I’m leaving for the weekend, the Boss’ son who is his partner says “see you tomorrow at 8”. I thereafter had to work every Saturday from 8-noon until I finally quit 2 years later and just walked out the door on a Friday and said screw you. What really made me mad was that they were paying me almost nothing (less than $30k as an attorney) and every Saturday about $10k in cash went through my hands. Just thinking about this now makes my blood boil and it’s been 20 years. I should have quit that first week.

I'm the theoretical boss..... not of ky911SC but nonetheless I am the one that is complained about in these scenarios. A good boss knows.... trust is critical, employee's salary and bonus are never to be treated lightly and communication is critical....

Some places do have a culture of honesty.

I’ve been working since I was 13 and haven’t experienced much honesty in the work place except for when I was a kid and mowing lawns

I take the advice my grandfather gave me 35 years ago....look out for yourself and do what’s best for you always

Long time ago I got an e-mail from corporate by mistake, it was intended for the regional manager.
The attachment listed the base salaries and gross income of every employee in So Cal.

I could'a pretended not to see it but that's really not me.
I never told anyone else what I saw but I made a point to mention it to the manager every time I saw him. He was squirming for a couple of months before I could tell he had enough and I let it go.
Pretty sure it helped raise my compensation thereafter just to keep me quiet

Awesome sauce, now I know who to contact late at night or on weekends when I can't figger it out

A company I happen to be familiar with requires about 6 different passwords for their systems. None of can be the same, none are automatically remembered, they all have to be renewed at different intervals and at least two of them don't give you any advance notice they are about to expire.

So about once a month I light up their help desk. They always say "why don't you follow the suggestion we sent out and sign up for the automatic password recovery system?
I say I tried, but couldn't remember my password for it.

I laugh and laugh, then my puter locks up.
No not really, but I'm sure they are saying bad stuff about me.

I am disappointed in you. I work in cyber security for a BIG bank, and I can offer some advice....write it on a sticking note under your keyboard like everyone else.

Anyone that can't remember "password" should not be working fer a major bank in the first place .

I've been out of the IT game for over a decade now...but we were using dynamic key fobs that changed the PW every minute or so for my last few years in the circus.
