I looked up the Model 3 after the Laguna Seca experience. 3,627 to 4,072 lbs - not bad at all. Current M3: 3,494 to 3,540 lbs

That chassis is built for it. With a lower capacity and only one motor, what do we expect on the 912 kit?

the really old EVs (Honda's first Insight & the Gen-2 Prius (1st one imported here)) drive like big golf carts

it'll take a new battery technology to get the wt. down

I'd want to do this to a Rolls-Royce Silver Cloud. Those are quiet already, so this would take it to eerie levels. They're also already torquey and heavy, so an electric drivetrain wouldn't make a big difference as far as driving dynamics.

I'm actually seriously considering doing this to a Mercedes W140.
I own a 1992 S420 that's in nice condition but there's an S320 for sale locally with a failed cylinder head.
He's asking $500... The interior and paint are good.

I'm guessing around $25,000 total for parts, batteries, control boxes etc. (probably more $$$)

Excellent point. One most won't think about. Perhaps the batteries up front act as a battering ram. Is any room left in the frunk?

Seems to me that the Tesla, Leaf, i3, whatever is the better choice. ... batteries down low, space for stuff, MUCH better crash worthiness.
