Tesla powered 912
Now we’re getting somewhere, with Intermeccanica doing EV’s, now this:

I wonder if it has to be a SWB longnose? Seems to me a '74 912 would be a better candidate.
|
no such thing as a '74 912
|
funny, I read it as 76 912E
Good vid. |
Dyslexia. ‘67, not ‘76.
Range of 225 km is not terrible for a play car, but 225 miles would obviously be better. |
my bad...sorry.
|
Great but I'd miss that sound of an internal combustion engine. :(

"wheezy farting sounds" are great... Just ask my GF ;)

Ha ha - nice! :D

The nice thing is that they claim it is reversible and it uses a known good base.
The bad thing is that a) it is a very expensive kit b) future kits will be significant cheaper (battery cost decrease) c) future kits will be having higher range (battery density increase) If I read online information correctly, in the last few years energy density doubled. That means in 5 years this kit likely will get you 300 miles range at lower cost. How heavy you think it is? Will it at all be toss-able? Will it need spring upgrades? I recently was at Laguna Seca enjoying a track day. There was a Tesla Model 3 that had obvious suspension and tire work with some big meats. I could not keep up with it in the 993, surprisingly even in turns it was slightly faster ... maybe had slicks (vs. R compounds on the 993.) G |
Its all out the window. 10 years from now, there will be a 500hp kits on the cheap.
EDIT: Probably sooner. |
Torque????? 4.5K ft. lbs.!!!!!!!!!
|
Sure lots of benefits but the converted cars would be significantly heavier than stock so at the very minimum they should have their brakes upgraded.
Probably springs and shocks as well. (I hope the batteries are mounted low down into the chassis) Then imagine, god forbid you had an accident in one of these... A vintage car with significant weight added suddenly coming to an abrupt stop! :( |
I like this new direction of hot rodding.
Give me a 60s Cadillac with an EV drivetrain please. |

Look at E-bikes and E-bike kits. You can get a decent E-bike kit for a couple hundred bucks now. G |
Great but you're all forgetting something. EV cars weigh more than a gas guzzler.
Added weight is a big deal. Let's not dismiss it... Burnouts are great but how do they drive? |
