It has been announced that there was debris on the course, damaged (broke) a front wheel.
A 'flat' at 500 mph...although they don't use pneumatic tires... solid forged wheels. She was killed instantly; blunt force trauma. Fire erupted shortly thereafter. |

Sad about this.... I've followed this project for almost 20 years... there was a vid almost 15 years ago.
Ed Shadle (who died last year - cancer) thought he might turn an engineless 'junkyard' F-104 into a LSR car. Found out later that it had a history... chase plane for SR-22, X-15, XB-70... Flown by big names,Yeager, astronauts, etc... Found an engine... got to work... funding was a big issue... Ed did over 500 mph in the car... they were working on 800... Jessi came later. I thought she was brought on for PR... help raise publicity and therefore funding. My opinion. Ed would have done the record runs... Sorry they're gone. |
