Might as well put this here. Does anyone have experience with these folks: https://storm-busters.com/ I have panels for the larger windows but need to upgrade. I have gotten a bit complacent in terms of preparation. |
Looking at the news this morning, a couple of clips of New Symirna Bch and the Space coast Had a boisterous night with winds of 70 mph. But it should be easing today for those in that area.
Those clear shutters are interesting Paul, nice to get some light in to the interior. My friends in Viera, look to be close neighbors to CarreraCpt. There, Have fabric shutters that stretch very tight over Windows and doors, and also let light in. They live right next to the community pool and on the lake side there Dan. You might have noticed their bright yellow Renault 2CV. Today should see the storm off of the Jacksonville area. All the best to RacerBVD and Paul there. Stay offshore Dorian! Cheers Richard |

OK, now this hurricane thing is making me hot! It is causing a big weather blockage in the weather pattern and we are stuck in a heat dome that can't move on out. So the hurricane in the Atlantic is affecting the weather across the central and southwest states.
We are having clear skies, no rain and almost no wind, highs in the 90s and higher than normal humidity. Since it is affecting me now it is important! Seriously now I do really feel bad for all the folks in the area that is getting pummeled. The part the news has not talked about is all the employees and their jobs at the businesses that are closed. Having spent a week in Boca Raton in July and seeing just the hotel employees that were on hand and working that are now sitting at home with no paycheck and all the people in the area just sitting at home waiting for a week for a storm to get on by has to be a horrible thing for the areas. The islands are just smashed, and the death count will never be known. No doubt many people washed out to the ocean and gone forever. So sad. |

End of my street. Not what you'd call huge waves (unless it was being reported on TV :D)
Most homes I saw around here did not board up. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567616703.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567616703.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567616703.JPG My place: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567616703.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567616703.JPG http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1567616703.JPG |

After how wrong were their initial predictions for Dorian, I’m not taking any chances. |
I am back at work today trying to get things sorted out and moving along.
I wanted to check in and see how the fellas to the North of me were faring. Baz, looks like a walk in the park for you I hope Jacksonville does well too. We are all very lucky the bad part of this thing is staying off shore. Hopefully it will make more of a turn and the bad part keeps away from the Carolina's and OBX. Good luck guys!! |
Had to leave Ash. Near Myrtle Beach Evacuating to the mountains. Waiting for the fat lady to barf.
Had to leave the 911. At least it’s covered and in the lee of the house. |

The storm is about parallel with us now. It's been windy at my house all day but the rain has been pretty light. Only small branches and pine cones. Haven't lost power.
Getting cabin fever....:( |

Paul, we were the same way. We tried to go for walks yesterday and the patches of rain kept us inside. We hardly got any rain with this storm, I dropped my pool over a foot in anticipation of the forecasted 16" of rain. It turned out to be a very dry storm here. I hope the Carolina gang makes out as good as Florida has. |
