An update "Notice from the Association of Bahamas Marinas: @ABMMarinas We have been receiving reports of people from the US trying to boat to the Abacos to help with relief efforts. Under no circumstances should any private vessel try and reach the islands at this time. The current US and Bahamian government efforts are to get people OUT of the impacted areas of the Abacos and Grand Bahama. There is tons of debris floating and under the water, there is nowhere to tie up, there is are no warehousing facilities for goods delivered, roads on the islands are NOT passable and communications with the islands are still at a bare minimum. We understand there is a strong desire to take action and help these communities and the offers of assistance and support have been overwhelming. Our goal is to consolidate as many efforts under the smallest number of umbrella organizations as possible in order to increase buying power and decrease the number of vessels heading to the islands with supplies. Right now we are recommending funneling as much of the relief effort through the Bahamas Red Cross Society as possible. https://bahamasredcross.org The Bahamas government has set up a website page as a resource center to help aide those in need. We will continue to update this page with the most relevant information needed so we can continue to provide the necessary assistance to persons and business who are willing to lend a helping hand. Please check this page frequently while we review and approve a list of additional trusted partners. https://www.bahamas.com/hurricane-relief" |

Didn't even rain at my house today but it's been very breezy. Tomorrow should be a different story. |

Let’s hope Dorian is the only storm this season we get warnings for. |
|
We are seeing the worst of this storm this evening as it passes. I stopped off at the corner bar and grill after heading to my office to set it back up for tomorrow. It is appropriately named Hurricane Grill and grabbed some takeout. They were 2 deep at the bar, every table was taken and there was a line waiting for tables. The corner Chinese joint was packed to the rafters. These were the only 2 places in town open. We did not get an event here. Everyone overreacted. I cannot blame them. The forecasters told me on Friday my house and business was going to be destroyed. By Saturday it was obvious they were completely wrong. No accountability for being so wrong. I have more to post and will wait until I am sober and sound of mind. (Unlike Dipso) My parting words.... major news hypes this crap to the max. The real victims are the gentle and kind people of the Bahamas who our rich American asses visit with little regard to their poverty. Many of those islands that are gone now are not welfare cases they are salt of the earth people who carved a living out of tourism in Paradise. 2 pics attached how close Inam rothe eyeball is unnerving. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...98acfd275b.jpg Off to shower and bed...... time for me to move on amd get on with my life. I am two VERY old 120 IPA's into my night. I am so messed up I can almost understand Dipso. I am celebrating my business and home not being destroyed, for the first time in about a week I can finally relax and let my guard down. https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...bedcd9e89e.jpg Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Get some sleep, Jim. The sun also rises. |

I like how Jim celebrates. Only an icy Dr. Pepper for me. |

I just had a tall cold glass of chocolate milk and a cinnamon roll. Wind howling. What a life, huh? |

Waiting for our turn up here in Charleston. It’s nonstop coverage but like waiting for paint to dry. |

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jonathan_Dickinson Its not global warming, we have had the quietest last 2 years in Florida concerning Hurricanes, you are just focusing on one storm. Which is rediculalas. His Journal from his shipwreck, very interesting and part of local lore we have a state park named after him here in Hobe Sound. https://ufdcimages.uflib.ufl.edu/UF/00/06/73/37/00001/dickinson_journal.pdf We are actually having a VERY quiet hurricane season, the hurricane center is naming everything to make it sound more active. Dorian was our first major storm early Sept. which is late in the season. We are doing good. compared to years ago. Like 2004 or 2005. Or go back to the early 1900's Look at this Monster, it must have been global warming in 1938! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1938_New_England_hurricane |
