From the World of John Wick: Ballerina

Starts Friday.
John Wick series changing? Starring Ana de Armas, Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick and Keanu Reeves.
I will see it.

I'm looking forward to it. Seems like it would be hard to go wrong with Keanu and Ana in a Wick.

I assume the Wick appearances are visions or dreams since he’s dead? I loved the Wick series but generally object to the “hot petite chick beats up lots of big dudes” movies. You can only deny so much reality.

I was surprised to see Anjelica Huston in it. A great actress who I had thought was quietly retiring.
She's been in a bunch of movies, but I always remember her in 'The Grifters'....a great movie.

She was the head of Wick's Romanian family, and the Director of a ballet "company".

^^^I just searched it.... Chapter 3 - Parabellum
I might have to watch that again.

In 'The Grifters' she plays John Cusacks mother as a grifter/swindler.
If you haven't seen it....it's well worth a watch.

I'm guessing Ballerina is based off The Director's school of assasins. Interesting that these female assasins are ballerinas. Black Widow was also a ballerina. I guess it gives them flexibility to bend and kick ass. For me, I prefer Atomic Blonde.

I hope it's good. I wasn't seeing anyone recommend The Continental in the TV thread.

Wick dies at the end of John Wick 4 (2023)... IMO "4" is the best of the John Wick movies.

Natalia Tena had a smallish but important roll. It's certainly worth seeing.

That's where I'm at too.. "supposedly". I thought 4 left it pretty open ended.

Same here. Much like in ALL the many endless apocalypse movies, years after the fall, the flashlight batteries all last a very long time. Bullets are an used in abundance, gasoline is still viable and cars run just fine, and cigarettes are still everywhere, and booze and beer is still common.

Ana has been doing action for a while.
She's fun to watch.

Agreed, I very much enjoyed Atomic Blonde

I almost rear ended another car once when I stared at a billboard advertising something (diamonds?) featuring Ana De Armos too long. I couldn’t pull my eyes off of it. It bewitched me!!! I could watch her paint a fence. I’ll watch this film.

Reminds me of Red Sparrow with Jennifer Lawrence.
