Unwanted sexual advances......how does one know if it is wanted or not without making it? Glad I grew up in the 60's and 70's and 80's. And this "blackface" thing. While I would not call it common place, it was not unusual to see this in minstrel shows and high school plays. OK, so it is not socially acceptable today, but why crucify someone for doing something that was socially acceptable 20 or 30 or more years ago?

"How does one know?" It's been my experience that if a woman is interested in you she'll let you know. Some guy will never understand this.

The "Blackface" thing is about white people making fun of black people so I understand it.
During the 70s and 80s a lot of people were openly racist and it didn't matter. Right or wrong that's just how it was.

I especially remember the racial commentary in the first Godfather movie. It just seemed normal but "we" find it offensive now.
But I'm glad it was never scrubbed from newer releases of the movie like the Star Wars "who shot first" bar scene B.S.

And 1000:1, current/modern women still want the man to make the move as long as he's the man that they want to make the move, but they don't want to have to tell him that he's the man that they want to make the move. You're just supposed to know. I know that some guys have that 6th sense. I never had it and never had a clue. I've had situations pop into my head at random 15-20-25 years down the line where I realized, "Wow, I missed a great opportunity, and I think she thought she was practically throwing it at me."

Exactly, things have gotten ridiculous. Were there things that should have been different? Sure. Are there folks that have said or done things that they shouldn't have that even at the time would have at least raised eye-brows? Absolutely.
But things have gotten bad. In some countries you can accuse someone that you don't like or irritates you of blasphemy and they'll be lynched. It's getting to be where in the US, you can do the same thing and the person will be socially lynched. Are there some folks that may deserve it, sure. But the current atmosphere is that everyone that is accused is assumed guilty full stop. No possibility to argue or prove otherwise. By that point, it's too late.

It was done as a costume thing back when. It's disconcerting to see people groveling and over apologizing for something they did without any idea in mind of denigrating someone else. As far as sexual advances is concerned, I turned down several women at work who made them (I understand you're going to show us your tool.) I had the philosophy of not "****ing where you eat." I took it as a sort of compliment, although that's from a male point of view.

Where you can really get into trouble is if you are a guy and turn the wrong woman down. I have heard a lot more of these stories in the last 10 years than the guy harassing the woman. Man is guilty until proven innocent in that sort of deal, which is not a good position to be in.

About 15 years ago I was in a meeting a was sitting next to this women I knew and always thought was nice. She ends up putting her leg against mine under the table. I thought she MAY BE making the move on me. I was like "Oh Crap, what do I do". Should I not move my leg and see what happens? Maybe she is making a play???

She kept it there for about 30 seconds and then moved it and said "oh sorry I didn't know that was you". I felt so stupid for even thinking it was deliberate.
