I was never allowed to be a train nut as a kid, but have influenced my son to be one. Glad to know Rod is a train nut.

Years ago I had a large scale garden rail road in the back yard but that broken up and sold after the divorce. (Lehmann Gross Bahn)
I plane to do it again someday. I've always loved model railways but this thing is something else again. ![]()

Absolutely amazing attention to detail, I can't imagaine the amount of space that this display takes up.

Thanks for posting that. I was aware that he was doing this and had seen a few photos before but this article kind of filled in the "gaps" and gave the background. (literally?)

Wow, this is a huge setup. And it's HO scale too, not large scale. Really impressive work.

Supposedly, all the seasoned model railroad regulars/experts who visit are highly impressed with his modeling attention to detail.
Looking at the link now, check out the quality of the light, the low angles, and the shadows cast across the cityscapes. A lot of time was spent on getting lighting right. Michael Gross, from family ties, is also an avid model railroad buff. If I ran into them in public, I'd be gawking for a model railroad autograph! ![]() Last edited by LEAKYSEALS951; 11-13-2019 at 09:11 AM.. |

The creation of 'atmosphere' with lighting and weathering plus drilling down on the detail to a whole new level is what caught my attention on this layout. I think this'll be a game changer.

Check this out. These guys in Hamburg, Germany, went totally bonkers. Largest model railroad in the world. Plus ships, airplanes, etc.! 1300 square meters and 900 trains!!!
This is the offical video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ACkmg3Y64_s And it keeps growing, they are not done yet! ![]() Last edited by The Kraut; 11-14-2019 at 04:02 AM.. |
