Honestly, I would consider this car for an around town vehicle. My wife drives around 5 miles per day (2 round trips to the office!), normally. This could be perfect for her. I'd stick with the 2WD drive option and extended range.

I wonder if they made a movie when the Edsel was rolled-out? Idris Elba sure wasn't around, wonder who the spokesperson was?

Ford E. Musktang?

E. standing for Elon

say THAT five times quick.

mmmmm...uh...thinking this through

I'm thinking Elon Musk-tang sounds okay. Really need to separate the Musk, and the Tang as two separate words. Final answer. You're welcome Ford.

Would have been good branded as the Edge STE IMHO.

Tervuren 11-18-2019 09:12 AM

The Mustang was a car designed to be inexpensive and affordable, with a range of options to broaden who would buy them.

I really do not see how this car departs from this concept.

Most of us think of the Mustang for its V8 performance versions, but what really sells?

Didn't it launch with a four cylinder?

The "secretary" car.

So unless the MSRP on this is bonkers, I'm not sure the name is a bad idea after all.

LOL! And spot on...

Obviously this is a scary evolution.
The old Mustangs you at least heard em peel out before they aim for a crowd.
now, this thing.. No engine noise, TC will keep the tire squeel to a minimum.

If you hear em it's to late

I can imagine the markting.

Ford Mustaaaang Maaach EEE
Our Autopilot is something else!!

Both screens are horribly integrated aesthetics wise. The large one is the worst of all worlds.

Gotta give credit when it's due....good one!

Touch screens..hate 'em for the distraction from driving they are. Much as I need an automatic because of a left foot problem that developed, I'm hanging in with my '09 Mustang with it's 5 speed manual and no touch screen. But maybe we who hate them are the wrong demographic? Thinking of all the smart phone addicted younger folks out there. They probably love the touch screens?

Sarc 11-18-2019 12:34 PM

Yawn. I think this is a Mach E at the top. Can't tell for sure. Doesn't really matter.

If they wrap Iacocca with copper wire, and replace his tombstone with a magnet, they can power these things for free. You can bet he is spinning in his grave.

I miss the days when car had actual windows more than I will miss ICE cars

CurtEgerer 11-18-2019 12:58 PM

Did they make it hideous on purpose or is the shape dictated by the batteries or something?

Remember when Ford had the deal with Eddie Bauer on the Explorers?
Maybe there will be an AOC version of the new Mustang? :D

Aerkuld 11-18-2019 01:31 PM

Electric cars I don't have a problem with at all. However, I detest this trend for 'small' SUV's. I'm sure people only want them because they sit higher up, so they have a better view of the road over all the other small SUV's which they couldn't see past in their sedan because the stupid arrow-slit windows are impossible to see through. They're a solution to the problem they created in the first place.
One of the reasons I hate commuting in the Porsche is that I have zero visibility beyond the car in front of me. All I see is a slab of metal and a license plate. If I'm lucky their brake lights work. If not I have to sit so far back to see anything I may as well reverse down the freeway. Maybe they'll make them even higher? I can almost see under some of them now.

I think automobiles are just going to get bigger and bigger with smaller and smaller windows

Ha!

Can't you see AOC claiming "You can have the Mustang-E in any color you'd like as long as it is Green!"

Ole Henry would roll in the grave!

Who knows how this thing is going to play out in the market. Perhaps it will do well, perhaps it will be remembered as the "E" standing for Edsel.
