Well this is different and unexpected

So I was out shoveling snow last night, it was heavy but I felt OK. Went inside when I got tired and chilled. I was sore but not too bad. Before bed I felt a pian behind my shoulder and figured I was sore. Went to bed. Woke up today with a truck on my chest, man it hurt and had pain in my jaw of all places. My med tech neighbor says IDIOT CALL THE SQUAD! Nah says I it's OK. She calls the squad, they wire me up, raise their eyebrows and hit me with the Nito-G. That's good stuff.

Soooooo they transport me, a flock o'docs flurry around me, catheterize my heart, and cluck their tongues. Seems I have one small artery 50% occluded. Huh, I don't smoke, drink much, eat red meat rarely and stay active but there it is.

How is that possible? I ride my bike till my heart is pumping like mad and have no issue, ever.

Now I'm sitting here in the hospital with the room mate from hell. no report from the cardiologist yet and I feel fine while Im running up $$$$$$s.

What happens if I decide to check myself out tomorrow?

Damn, I'm glad somebody called the "squad." I'd tend to follow the doctors' recommendations. Keep us posted and get out of there as fast as you can. Good luck & take care of yourself.

You’ll go nowhere and you will like it.

Seriously. Relax. Take the tests.

That is one scary situation. I had friend who was feeling a little for a while. It got to the point where he knew he had to go to the hospital. When he got there it was not long after that he was fitted with a pacemaker. His heart had been stopping for 5-7 seconds at a time.

I hope that you are doing well and that you are out of there soon.

Life...is what happens while you make other plans.

Thank your med tech neighbor...

Genetics have a lot to do with it. I never smoked, watched what I ate and rode bike about 100 miles a week. My dad had a history of coronary artery disease, so I made an appointment with a cardiologist for a "routine" test. Nuclear stress test showed a lack of oxygen uptake in my heart wall so they wanted to do a catheter cineangiogram. Ended up with a quadruple bypass early the next morning. I had no symptoms at all beforehand.

Gee Tom. This is twice you cheated death.... praying for you buddy

wdfifteen 12-03-2019 03:28 PM

Don’t be a wise guy. Humor them. If they’re wrong it ain’t gonna cost you thatmuch. Sue ‘em.
If they’re right, well...
You won’t be able to sue them if they’re right.

LWJ 12-03-2019 03:44 PM

Be well!!!

You may have just dodged a proverbial bullet.

Glad you are able to talk about it. The alternative is not so nice...

crustychief 12-03-2019 03:51 PM

Dang! Get some rest so you can get back in it!

billybek 12-03-2019 03:53 PM

A flatbutt is better than a flatline....
Just sayin....

Take care of yourself and listen to your marching orders.

"why?" is an academic issue right now. Elective stenting is MUCH better than emergency stenting or a dude or dudette and an electric saw dividing your sternum and icing your pumpkin to full stop while a machine makes your blood square dance.

Which coronary artery?

cabmandone 12-03-2019 03:57 PM

Don't fk with your health. Stay, pay the bill, make sure you're okay... go home and ***** about the bill... but don't fk with your health no matter how healthy you think you are.

sc_rufctr 12-03-2019 04:13 PM

Flatbutt, seriously dude. Take care and follow the directions given to you by the doctors.

You can not mess about with this stuff.

I attended a funeral of a friend about 6 weeks ago.
He died at 61 because of lung cancer and had never smoked in his life!

The "why" is genetics

Do as you're told.
Getting well is all that matters.
Listen to the Pelicans.......they know it all Mr, Butt (can i call you Flat?).

Por_sha911 12-03-2019 06:11 PM

Said prayer for you. Do what the doc tells you. You can always get more money but once you get pulled from the game of life there ain't no coming back.

wildthing 12-03-2019 06:18 PM

This is one of my fears. I rarely smoke, I go to the gym at least 3x a week, don’t really follow a diet, have maybe 20% body fat...

I have a buddy who also had a stroke, but he also appeared healthy, exercised regularly...

Hope everything turns out well!

fanaudical 12-03-2019 08:43 PM

Stay in the hospital.

My father went into the hospital in August after ignoring obvious signs of heart trouble for three days. He didn't get to walk out. Thank your neighbor when you get home.

Bill Douglas 12-03-2019 10:12 PM

As the other guys say "Chit, do what the doctor says."

This is your big warning, and you are lucky to get the warning.

Good luck Flatbutt.
