12 Year-Olds For Rent

No, this is not about Jeffrey Epstein. I bought an Arlo home security camera setup. It took me about a week to finally get the camera pictures to show up on my phone. Using the "easy, intuitive, simple setup" procedures.

Ahead of me is a whole world of features and icons and setup configurations and cloud file management and......

I should have most of the basics figured out by......April. What I need is a young person, to help me figure out all these features and options. Anybody else have this thought from time to time? "I wish I had a 12 year-old. For them, this is probably easy."

At first I thought this thread was something shockingly illegal and didn't open it until I observed that the moderators hadn't eradicated it.i need someone to get an Amazon Firestick work ing. Despite my best efforts setting up,the TV shows no signal message .Tried all the usual unplugging and plugging back in as infinitum with no success.

Absolutely inappropriate now days.........35 years ago we adopted our Korean son. He was 6 months old. After an exhaustive interview process, I was asked "Why do you want to adopt a Korean baby?". I replied I wanted someone who could program my VCR. She thought I was hilarious. He still programs my phone, smart TV & has all the Bluetooth stuff up & running. Love my kid.

I hired a 12 YO boy some years ago to help me with yard work. He Got his Masters Degree this year and is working his first job as a teacher. He worked his way through school. I taught him to drive stick, and some other skills that helped him find other jobs when he wasn't working for me, which he did several summers.

Yes, he was able to fix my I Phone when the battery kept dying and help my wife set up her new smart TV.

You are a good man Supe, but it is far more rewarding to develop real relationships with actual people than to duke it out with your intellectual rivals on the internet. You had a bad break a while ago, but whatever you are doing in that other forum is a poor distraction from moving on and finding new friends. It may be very rewarding for some types to ''win'' the internet, but it doesn't seem like the real you to me.

I'm sorry if this is too personal, but you are a good man, and you deserve better friends. Don't give up on real life. There are risks and disappointments, but also great rewards. It seems like you know this.

I want to echo the above, well said Daniel.

But I take exception with the phrase intellectual rivals. There is nothing, nothing intellectual about there.

Are there any YouTube instructional videos? I find myself using them more and more. Some are good and some are bad, so just take your time.

I agree 100% with Shawn and Daniel, f that angerfest that is PARF.

Thanks, guys. It feels good to receive that feedback. I crave respectful, intelligent conversation about important public policy matters. I can be somewhat obsessive. Tried for years to make that happen in the other place. Recently, I gave up. Hey.....if they want an insult-fest, then perhaps I'd accommodate. If PARF is useless (and it is), then let's help them in their efforts to blow it to smithereens.

Alright. I will rethink my actions. Pelican occupies about 5% of my life. I have better things to do than help idiots ruin conversations.

Thanks again, guys. Your words are welcome. And wise.

Way back in the stone ages before the internet, we had the local BBS system. I found an guy that was really helpful and knowledgeable. After asking several questions I asked if we could just talk on the phone as that is faster than typing. He was in my local area. His reply is his dad had to approve any phone calls. He was 13. It is humbling to ask a kid technical questions and learn quickly he is way more advanced in his knowledge than I was.

I just felt comfort in knowing I knew a lot more about cars than he did, and I can drive!
