Nice, inexpensive automatic watch

I love automatics. I asked for this one for Christmas. Orient Bambino Open Heart. Really well done watch given the price point (less than $200). My first test shows about 12+ seconds per day. Looks great on the wrist. I can't say I am a fan of domed crystals, but that is not specific to this watch.

I bought an Orient open heart sun & moon off CL earlier this year. Nice.

I have used an Orient rectangular shaped automatic watch bought imported via Island Watches as my daily for several years. It has gained a couple of minutes a week, but I learned to vary the way I leave it overnight to adjust it. It gains if left on its back, slows if resting on the crown etc.Watch case and glass still look good, area of leather strap which fits into buckle has the outer surface scuffed and lifting. It's been worn under cars, endured a lot of hammering( I am left handed), much archery on the string holding wrist, suffered a 70 mph forward crash, but keeps on a- tickin.

I saw a display of Orient watches recently. Ive always liked them, but their current lineup is something else in the metal. Impressive for very few $$.

Orient makes a great watch. Oldest manufacturer in Japan I believe.

Seiko is older. Orient didn't get started until the 30s. Today, Orient is part of the Seiko/Epson brand.

I have some nice Swiss watches, but I have been branching out and picking less expensive models for everyday wear. So many cool watches for not much $. I picked up a Seiko Recraft a few months ago. About $125. New watch, made to look like a big chunky watch from the 1970s. (not my photo)

Orient didn't actually start making watches until 1950.

Very nice - beautiful in fact!

Unfortunately, I can't seem to get into the habit of wearing a watch again. Not good if you have an automatic.

I was wearing some Rip Curl tide watches but got tired of sending them off for new batteries.

Semi-retired now so time isn't as crucial - which doesn't make any sense either.

Get a solar powered GShock Baz. Can stay in the drawer for months and wake up instantly.

This Orient is a stunner at 42mm. Literally can be had for a couple of hundred.

I have a few Seiko automatics, some Recraft and one of these Cocktail watches...

For everyday use I like the Seiko Prospex line, I prefer the "Sumo" style over the "Turtle"...
