19 yo caught doing 308 Km/h!! That's 191 MPH!

We've read of people doing excessively high speeds before, but it still gets me when I read about it anew. This 19 year old, who seems to have some track knowledge, felt "comfortable" at that speed. That would no doubt change in a hurry if something interfered with his straight line. His licence and dad's car is suspended and impounded for 7 days. The Premier of Ontario wants to see his suspension go to 30 days or more. I wonder if any of that will actually make an impression on this kid. Maybe like the OPP officer says, "If they could all attend the scenes that I attend when someone has been killed in an aggressive driving collision, that might change their perspective a little bit."

There seems to be a set of fools who are competing to see who can get the highest MPH listed on a ticket.

Usually motorcycles that I read about tho.

In Oregon, over 100 makes you liable for a $2,000 fine, loss of license, etc. Officer's discretion you can get a pair of shiny bracelets and a night's free lodging. Judge's discretion, loss of car.

Back in the good old days, we used to be a "basic rule" state...

Around here any triple digit tickets are a trip to jail in the back of the cruiser, and an impounded car.

Meanwhile, the cannonball speed run has been broken SEVERAL times since the lockdown, with the latest averaging over 120 through a couple states.

Crazy since it went 6+ years without being broken prior to the last year.

LOL. I was trying to figure out what model MB he was driving. (The article I read didn't have that big picture of the car on the back of the tow truck.) My first thought was wow, that's pretty impressive for a street car!

A correction by law enforcement advised the driver's age was 18 and he was driving with a provisional license.

The kid is 18 the OPP updated his age. It was his fathers car. They hired a lawyer who said there's no way the car reached the posted speed. The car has a cut off at 255 kmh. The car was stock father is a family man. He also questioned the officers laser reading.
After that statement there was a phone video of the car doing a dyno pull.

Sounds like a ven diagram where bravery intersects with stupidity. One wrong move on anyone’s part at that speed and the story would be an obit

If it's stock and if it doesn't have the P030 performance package there is a limiter at 155 MPH. P030 is 186 I think. Just a tune gets these things around 520 HP, a few bolt ons and you can push 600. So 191 is totally plausible with a few upgrades.
