Wanted to lose 90lbs in 2017. Lost about 60 with keto/Atkins.

Gained 30 back with some on and off diet passages. It don't take long.

This year I'm going for it. Five days under my belt and carb cravings have mostly subsided.

I do dirty keto. I will eat lettuce/diet dressing and broccoli and drink light beer (five carb each) but I have been moving towards the Truly/White Claw seltzer drinks which only have about two carb grams.

Female pals have been dumping their leftovers on me and I say thanks and it goes into the disposal if my kid does not want it because of late night risk of a comfort food "attack".

Great post! I’m 5’8” and 190# at 46yrs. I’m at my best when I’m at 165#. I’m going to cut out sweets altogether. That has always been my weakness. I’d like to be down a solid 15# by my birthday in April.

Starting my 6th day and feeling good. I've cut out all sugar and most carbs. Not at 0, but keeping it low. I had the most amazing steak, shrimp, and crab dinner last night at the local casino followed by some bowling (I'll count that as exercise?). I've tried intermittent fasting before, only eating between noon and 8 and actually gained weight. Not sure how... Low carb is the easiest for me. Easy to know what I can eat, and I see results.

I've been able to get some exercise in but not nearly enough. Some walking, a few minutes of jump rope, and some pushups. I'm not going to do anything as extreme as cross fit but I do have a bike, erg, and bowflex at home as well as a few free weights. More than enough 'stuff' to get in a good workout if I just make the time.

I plan to 'officially' weigh each Wednesday so I'll update again then.

Thanks for reading, and good luck to anyone else on this journey!

Certainly. My wife belongs to an actual crossfit gym but I do most of the workouts at home with our Rogue rack, bumper plates, erg, assault bike, and treadmill.

Best money I've ever spent. Bought the Rogue stuff new for about $2,500 and the bike, erg, and TM used all for about $600 total.

In the past 3 years (am 53 now), I went from an obese 178lbs down to my 18 yr old weight of 147lbs and now back up to 162. I am 5'8".... Got a couple ski trips coming up and I am back on my salads for lunch, small normal dinners and no evening snacks. When I keep my caloric intake around 1200 per day, I lose about 1.5 lbs per week. My daily "exercise" is simply 40 sit-ups, 40 pushups, 40 knee bends before my morning shower.... Takes about 5 minutes... easy-peasy. I now am tossing in 10 pull-ups a couple times a week in the evening, but it is a beotch compared to my sit-ups/push-ups (hoping to get to 15 pull-ups by spring). Hope to be 150 again by late spring summer for boating and dirt biking season.

Week one is in the books. A little better than expected:
1-Jan 228.20
8-Jan 224.20 -4.00

My new bedtime snack is a lowcarb protein shake. Not as good as cookies and milk, but seems to satisfy that craving.

Wean yourself off slowly, but you need to learn to go to bed without a snack. Worst time to eat anything. Maybe try to get laid instead.

Woah there, keep it on topic.........

Back in the day if the kids were gone we would have a fun Friday night starting in the hot tub with G&T's and end up in bed ready to sleep well past midnight sometimes.

One of those nights just before sawing logs, I whispered, "Wanna go to Waffle House?" She sprang to life and said "Hell yeah!". We chowed.

I'm down two belt notches since Thanksgiving but would gladly cheat on the diet to have a night like that "one mo' time".

I keep a bottle of little blue pills on hand, just in case the GF gets a case of the munchies.

I'm 59 and at 6', I'm hovering around 200lbs (too much delicious Indian food at work), and my target is 170lbs, so I've started my plan. Due to my liver disease, I cannot maintain this extra weight as it causes my liver condition to get much more troublesome and my chronic insomnia has returned. I'll let you guys know how I'm progressing. I plan to lose 10lbs a month... and keep it off.
