Yep, sainz to ferrari.

Both McLaren and Renault reportedly already have offers on the table for Vettel to consider, they are only waiting to see which one of them will need to fill a spot.

It would be fun to see Ricciardo in a Ferrari.

I think he has a massive chip on his shoulder and would be very competitive with Leclerc.

sammyg2 05-12-2020 10:58 AM

Avoccado lost me when he drank out of his shoe.
Ewwwww.

VET to retire? Seems a crappy way to bow out

Noah930 05-12-2020 07:04 PM

Vettel and Hamilton should swap seats. That would be fun to watch.

rusnak 05-13-2020 05:00 AM

If Ferrari put a huge number out there in front of Hamilton, they could destabilize their nearest rival for a lot less money and faster than it would take to build a quick car.

F1?

I thought they went bankrupt.....is it even a thing anymore?

Does anyone care? I don't miss it one single bit and to be honest, if it never came back I'd be just fine.

No, yes, yes, no.

Glad I could help ;)

And it's official: Sainz goes to Ferrari and Riccardo goes to McLaren . Open seat at Renault rumors are Hulkenberg , Alonso or Vettel .

I hope Alonso goes back to Renault...

No he isn't my favorite character, but he is a great driver and I think having him back would be good for F1. I don't see Hulk being rehired after they dropped him for Ricciardo, and why would Vettel settle, he's already got 4 WCs. ALO might drive for peanuts just to come back, and who knows, with a reasonably competitive car, he could do something to keep us ententained ?

Can they just swap the drivers now so we don't have lame duck drivers whose teams will obviously now favor the remaining drivers? It would make the season more exciting should it even take place.

I know, I know, contracts, but we can still wish.

What, and miss watching Vettel follow team orders exactly for the remainder of this season?

Here’s hoping he (Vettel) goes to Aston Martin to school Stroll

sammyg2 05-15-2020 07:18 AM

I want to see him in an F1 car again, but hope it doesn't turn into a big mistake ala shumi.

‘Alonso to Renault with Liberty footing the bill’

Date published: May 15 2020

Fernando Alonso has reportedly begun talks to replace Daniel Ricciardo at Renault with Liberty Media ‘happy to pay a part’ of the Spaniard’s wages.

Formula 1’s 2021 driver market went into a spin this week with confirmation that Sebastian Vettel was on his way out at Ferrari, 2020 set to be his final year.

48 hours later Carlos Sainz was announced as his replacement while, instead of announcing Vettel as a straight swap, McLaren confirmed that Daniel Ricciardo would be taking Sainz’s seat.

That leaves Renault one driver short for the 2021 season.

Immediately the rumour mill suggested Alonso as a replacement and, according to Marca, it may just get its wish.

The Spaniard publication understands that ‘Alonso is in talks to become a driver for Renault’.

It added that ‘Renault need a big name to keep their ambitious project afloat and they believe Alonso represents their best option going forward’.

There is, however, one sticking point – his wages.

Alonso was bringing in $30m per season in his final year with McLaren, a hefty increase on the $17m that Renault paid Ricciardo.

‘The major stumbling block for Renault in their pursuit of Alonso will be his salary,’ says Marca, ‘but there could be a solution.

‘Liberty Media are happy to pay a good part of Alonso’s high wages and an agreement could be reached before the 2020 season gets underway in Austria.’

German publication Bild reckons a deal is pretty much done while F1 driver turned commentator Martin Brundle added his voice to the growing list.

“I think Alonso is desperate to get back into Formula 1, he’ll be throwing his hat in the ring somewhere,” he told Sky Sports.

“Could it be a third trip to Renault for him?”

Alonso raced for Renault in the early 2000s, winning two World titles, before returning to the team in 2008 for a two-year stint.

I read that in the french press also, there's supposedly a pre-contract in place already but it depends on Renault staying in F1. Covid didn't do Renault any good at a time when the company was already in financial trouble. This is kinda symbiotic, having Alonso back could help "sell" funding of the team for next year to the board... Win win.

Also Binotto is using the old tried and true "Ferrari to Indycar threat" as they are unhappy about the budget caps... Also endurance is being looked at. And no, nobody is taking that seriously ;-)

Crazy Ferrari rumor of Seb and Ferrari racing Indy?
Can't see a Chevy or Honda powered Ferrari Indy race car.
So where does Seb end up?
