I have never worked in the corporate world, so I have a hard time understanding blunders like this. I would have to guess it was done on purpose just to get the internet to talk about it.

Just a simple email to any American would get an immediate reaction. No need to find an English major, just anyone that grew up in the USA would know that name will not work in the USA.

I know there are many car names that don't translate well to other countries. That one is so blatant I just don't believe it was an accident. The old "no such thing as bad publicity."

Toyota's infamous "Turd" - TRD - comes to mind. While many ascribed this to poor "Engrish", I see it as a brilliant marketing ploy. Teenage boys (of all ages) were snickering - and talking - about this for years.
