Buying a used camera: Shutter count

A little fun with the 60mm lens. These shots prove that I need to get the tripod out and maybe make one. All handheld. And get lights. The focus on the lens wasn't as smooth as I think it should be. Maybe just a product of holding and focusing at the same time.

The lighting looks fine.
Get the tripod out and crank the aperture down and let the camera do its thing.

By down, I hope you mean up to higher numbers. The depth of field could have been greater in the first photos. F-22 at least.

wd15 - Yes, crank it down to a higher number. But not too high or funny things start to happen.

First pic is showing 1/125sec at f5.6 ISO 800. I think f8 or f11 would have been perfect for DOF.

So I FINALLY have a real reason to learn how to use the camera. Developed a new polishing technique for the soft, porous aluminum 1968 vent window Nike horizontal pieces. These things don't polish well. They scratch if you rub the softest stuffed animal microfiber over them.

I have to take "professional" level photos when I assemble these later this week. This is why I bought the camera.

how did you glue that penny onto the chrome?

Really small nitt here. Stage the penny so you can 'read' it in the reflection without craning your neck around. It'll make for a more impressive photo.

That is a great piece of advice!

12 hours of testing and refining a 7 step process to get these to come out. Past '68s I've done were very nice, certainly as good as factory original, but these are by far the best I've done. Anodizing tomorrow with any luck, then riveting on the chrome latch and front screw plate.

Stop the lens down to f8 and get all the carpet in focus in the reflection too.
Set up the tripod, don't hand hold it.

will do but this was just a quick pic after final polish and acetone. Definitely going to be using the tripod this weekend for pics. Carpet is microfiber fleece I drape everywhere.
