Do QBs wear an earpiece on the field?

If yes, what’s the product called? I may need to get one for my son so I can correct his behavior from afar when he’s acting up. I don’t want to embarrass him in front of his friends but he needs guidance at times. He has Down Syndrome but he’s a very high functioning individual.

Last week at a middle school basketball game, he was horsing around on the bench. It took every ounce of self control for me to sit tight and wait for coach to tell him to quit. Once he’s on the court however, he’s very focused.

I think you have to let him make his own mistakes. Back your kid when he has done his best.

Iphone and Apple airpods. My kid gets a kick out of leaving his phone on the first floor while he's in his second floor bedroom and listening to the conversations we're having. I think he might have a future with the FBI or CIA.

Being a parent of a kid with needs is really tough. Most of the time, people will be accepting of them and their situation. Sometimes not. In the end, all have to find their ways and place. In the middle it's uncomfortable for everyone. Sit tight and let him find his way. Support him and his coach. Take comfort in his being high functioning. Take care of yourself.

I could have misread his OP but I don't think he's asking for life advice. He's asking for something discreet to give a gentle correction to his kid when its needed.

BTW, I think about any bluetooth earpiece will allow you to communicate between your phone and earbuds.

I'm sure it's available, actors use hidden earpieces, seen reference to them on fake reality shows.

I would suspect it would be frowned upon when he's on the court for safety reasons.

As a former coach this is the last thing I would ever go for.
When he is on the bench he is my responsibility and I will step in if things go too far. So many parents wish they had an earpiece in their kid for so many reasons, all the best intentions, but the worst outcomes.
Coach him at home if you must and then let each player play their own game outside the home and yes I have coached DS kids. (Tourettes kids, teenage girls, teenage boys, violence issues you name it)

What you want is one like the Cops and Federal agents use on TV shows. They can be anywhere in the country and talk among themselves or to headquarters. That is just TV make believe. Like the computer systems that can grab a video frame, enhance it in the blink of an eye, and look up the owner registration with a few keyboard clicks, and never need the mouse. All TV make believe. Superman is more realistic.

I don't think you will find any product that will do that that does not involve a large headphone and a large transmitter. I could be wrong, and I hope I am, I was wrong once before, I think. I could be wrong about that.

My bluetooth capable hearing aid has a feature that allows my iPhone to act as a microphone. Say in the case if I am in a seminar - I can place my iPhone on the speaker podium - and regardless of the audio quality/level in the auditorium, I hear what the speaker is saying via my iPhone. This wouldn't be a cheap solution, but it would work. He could wear a hearing aid in 1 ear.

Seems the game episode was used as an example.

Some of our kids on the spectrum need "coaching" on the regular.

My son is on the Aspergers spectrum.

Last summer we were in London and Scotland.

On our return trip to the states he had been flagged for some "extra scrutiny".

ok, not sure why, he's 16 but whatever.

We go through regular security and it seems nothing out of the norm takes place.

Little did we know the extra screening was taking place at the gate.

Unfortunately I had asked him t pull my wheelie while I stopped to retrieve something from my pocket.

I come around the corner and he has been pulled aside to inspect the wheelie.

I panic because his normal social interaction could be easily misconstrued as evasiveness which in this situation would be highly suspicious.

I'm not allowed to stand there with him and sweat for a few minutes while it all shakes out.

He did ok mostly because they had no real questions for him.

My wife and I dread him getting his drivers license, if he gets pulled over I can easily see things going south real fast.

There should be an indication on licenses for people like him so Officers have an idea of what they are dealing with.

If it were me and my kid, I think I'd talk to the coach about what I think is acceptable behavior while on the bench and reassure him that he has the ability to discipline my son if his behavior is out of line.
I agree with what reachme said. He is the coaches' responsibility when playing or sitting on the bench. Let him be the disciplinarian during that time, and you must likewise let your son know that you back the coach while he, your son, is in his charge.

You'd be surprised how far our imagery has come along. You're right about the TV stuff being fake, but not by much these days.
