This 1989 911 Speedster is for sale with only 41 original miles!

It was never registered for street use and is listed on BAT currently where the bids are reaching over $200k!!

Sources say this one was sold brand new by Jack Daniels Motors of Fair Lawn in New Jersey for $78,001. It was then shipped directly to LA and placed into storage. However, the dealership that sold it back in the 80's has reacquired it from the original owner. Although it's been in storage it has currently been given four new tires, valve adjustment, the engine bay and fuel system were cleaned out, and the door-handle seals, decklid shocks, engine insulation pad, brake hoses, fluids, filters, and belts have all been replaced. Along with these current services, the new owner will receive the original sales receipt, two sets of keys and the factory manuals.

Don't worry, it has 6 days left for you to place your bid here.

I always thought THAT was the ugliest air cooled 911 ever made by Porsche. Just my opinion.

That car always looked funny to me. I can’t see owning one of these short of a bargain basement price, and I don’t see that happening.

Long before the bubble, a local shop asked me to sell a customer's 86 Turbo with 999 miles on it. As a coupe, you would open the door and breathe in showroom new smell. Even with 999 miles, it was a perfect car. I'm pretty sure it rolled around on carpet all those miles.

I was asking $75K for it. It was a challenge to get $50K for the car. Owner decided to keep it.

I wanted one back then. Just out of college no money. Think what a poor investment that was. 1989 stock market vs 2020?

Oops. Minus carrying costs.

I've always loved this year Speedster.

I really wish Porsche had made a 993 version.

Looks like something Martina Navratilova or Boris Becker would like to have to rekindle the memories of glory days past...

In general I don't like speedsters. However, the 991 speedster is amazing because it looks less like traditional speedsters. The 981 Boxster Speedster is a beauty also.

Could not imagine buying one of these and never driving it. What a waste.

I thought the car was ugly back then, not much has changed since. Similar to flat nose 911.

There were a few built but I forget who built them; it might have been a dealer.

A guy on the Rennlist had Ninemeister in England build him a real nice one.

I LOVE the 3.2L cars, but I've never much cared for the '89 speedster. I'd rather have an '89 targa.

Maybe some of the other maintenance they did required that they get in there? For a vehicle that has been sitting for 30 years, I have no doubt that lots of stuff needs attention, but I wouldn't think the valves would be one of those things. Tires, anything rubber, flexible or soft, gaskets, rubber fuel and brake lines, seals for the HV(A/C), oil tube o-rings, yes, but the valves should be fine, right?

And don't get me wrong, that speedster may be one of my least favorite of the '84-89 cars, but if it was handed to me, or made available for a crazy (the other kind of crazy), I'd be happy to own it. It's like pizza and sex, even the worst is still pretty great.

No A/C - horrors!
In keeping with the Speedster tradition it would have bucket seats that rode like they were made from real buckets, side curtains instead of windows, no insulation, a top that probably spawned the aphorism "rag top," and only 3 bolts holding the windshield on - and it could be the lightest, most powerful car in the Porsche lineup (depending on the engine ordered).
