If I can spend $15 dollars to go watch old fat Lando fly the millenium falcon one last time over spending $15K flying my own family to Disney "OrLando"---->
Then everyone wins! ![]() Well... except disney- they will be out $14,985.00 Last edited by LEAKYSEALS951; 04-12-2019 at 03:03 PM.. |

They lost me with The Force Awakens.
The story telling style just wasn't right for a major Star Wars film. I've enjoyed black and white 1950's B-movies more than post Disney Star Wars. I'm also grumpy from how bad post Disney Star Wars game content has been; that jades me. A big deal is A New Hope didn't try to drum up mystery, it focused on adventure and action. It felt like a story being told as it happened. The Force Awakens kept popping to flashbacks, it made gaps to try to create "suspense" for future movies. It sucked. I recognize that both the original trilogy and this new one plays games with parentage, but Empire Strikes Back just hit you with it instead of this gap spawned plot hole feeling that TFA had. Overall it just felt forced and artificial. I disconnected. I do consider it likely that if Lucas had made 7,8, 9 that I might not of liked them either. It isn't just Disney. The first three Star Wars movies are just a tough act to live up to. The books and computer games that followed them were great. To condense, A New Hope told a story; The Force Awakens obscured a story. Last edited by Tervuren; 08-26-2019 at 02:28 PM.. |

I thought Rogue One was really good.
The Last Jedi was poorly written, pure Disney SJW trash that said FU to the original franchise. Lost me there. 9 won't be any different.

Imagine I could send a message to myself in 1980. I’d tell him about the world today. I think he’d accept most of it. But when he found out there was a new Star Wars movie. Coming out and that I was indifferent he be stunned.

I get what you're saying but times change. I enjoy the movies for what they are but there was one scene in Solo I just can't get past.
Val (Thandie Newton - Beckett's wife) ... Died for what exactly? A robbery???? No heroics, nothing really important, just for money??? That whole concept seemed really stupid to me. Ron Howard should have known better. ![]()

Put a hundred characters out there and watch internet buzz for who wins most interest prize. Or become trademark troll and sue everyone else with a green monster in their flick. Now that they got .cgi and own the artistic license, they can devote half a movie to 'young Val growing up' or whatnot and all Thandie has to do is write her signature on the paperwork if even that. |

I've never seen Star Wars. Any of them. I don't know why.

I liked Solo and Rogue One okay. Force Awakens a little less. Not particularly enthused about whatever the next one is.

Sheesh- the force is weak with you all!
![]() But to be honest- I feel kind of bad about posting this thread. My love for star wars III(good) and especially Empire - IV(perfect), has even lasted through star wars V(meh... ok), endured all the prequels (well... I- episode I and III not II) and even (sorta) VII and... NOT VIII!!!!! Good lord?!?!.. what did I just type? ![]() With the low standards set by VIII, I , myself, had written things off. VIII set the standards sooooo low, the fact they named IX "rise of skywalker" impressed me to the point of being willing to kiss $5 buck goodbye to go see it. Yes- even with the fast and furious pic of Rey flipping over the Kylo's Tie fighter (interceptor?) I'm not even a skywalker fan. I guess with VIII being so bad, there could only be one way to go- up. I think, in the end, this story is too big for anyone to tell. Everyone has their opinion of how it should go... It's funny seeing all the "mehhhh" associated with IX. Perhaps all well deserved. Well- There's always netflix. And even on netflix, I still can't stomach VIII for more than about 10 minutes. Rogue one was (for me) worthy. Even Solo was a nice surprise. I'm hoping IX will edge in like III- better than VIII and II. In 1980, I never thought I'd be writing all this. I could also tell you a story of an attractive girl, who, sitting on a boat I made in 1987, admitted she was a huge star wars fan, and fortold of a coming prequel of the clone wars....but that's another story. Star Wars would be great if it wasn't for the fans.
