Not a fan - roasted marrow bones.

Last night I took a swing and missed.

Way too friggen rich! I watched people slurp this stuff down at a restaurant. The chef gave me pointers and I contacted a rancher friend. Friends and wife liked it, but I didn’t.

I guess I don’t get it. It was fun to make.

If you wife and her friends liked it, then I wouldn't consider it a miss. (which to me would mean that you screwed it up) It sounds more to me like it's just not your taste.

I ordered marrow at a restaurant out of curiosity once. It wasn't bad, but I don't see myself ordering it again. In my case, bones like you have there were cut in half lengthways to make it easier to dig out.

I remember as a little kid going to steak places with my grandparents. My grandmother would always dig the marrow out of the steak bones.

I think I also heard about it from some old Anthony Bourdain shows.

I couldn't feast on just marrow but I do like it as a kind of a small pre dessert.

Not a failure!

You need them sliced the long way, so they bone sits like a tray and you have more surface area to caramelize.

It is NOT a main dish, it really is something you eat a couple tablespoons of with white toast. IMHO it needs to be very lightly spiced, salt and pepper. Many pleaces drown it in some crap and then you don't get any of the actual flavor.

I am a big fan, unfortunately I am on a low cholesterol diet these days ... so this type of food is a bit on the back burner.

Exactly, That is how it is served at Gallagher's Steakhouse in NYC. I love it.

I've had it at a restaurant. I didn't care for it either.

Oh hell no. I ate the bone marrow in a bowl of Pho at some little restaurant. I had EPIC flatulence for about 3 days. I swear I could have blown up a small city. I was a walking haz mat zone. Someone told me later that they don't eat it, it's just for flavoring the broth.

I might do a taste test at a restaurant, but I can't imagine ordering it and paying for it.

My grandfather worked at a slaughter house all his life. From age 17 until they close the Armor and Co slaughter house in Oklahoma City. When we had steaks I always cut off the white fat, and he would just scarf that down from my plate. He always said that was the best part of the steak. No doubt he would have loved marrow.

My dad did not eat the white fat, he too trimmed it off.

Did any of you ever hear of MAD COW disease? Apparently after listening to the dialog's on the Bird Brain Board one could surmise that this group is already in the throes of the disease. Mad Cow is caused by Spherical's that make the Brain into Swiss cheese and which also reside in the MARROW OF BONES. With the long gestation period for MAD COW to show up and American beef never really getting to that age it is an unknown how much Mad Cow is really out there? If you take the Beef Bones and grind it up for Bone Meal and put it on your Tomato plants the Spherical s get into the Tomato plants and you can get Mad Cow that way. The same for feeding it to Poultry etc. Why do ya think the Japanese BANNED US beef for so long? Because they thought it was joke?
