I think the risk is too damn high right now with the virus making headlines.

I'm nice and cozy under this rock.
I'm thinking of getting some more rocks, just in case.

When it broke through the 25,000 support, all bets were off.

Hope it is a big rock. It may get crowded. Hope you have clear title.

I just refinanced the rock, got a killer deal ;)

If two months ago anyone had told me that money-market was a smart move with almost zero interest rate, I would have laughed.

As I aged I slowly backed off of stocks. When I retired last year I backed off further. I didn't need the risk.

Can't open a web page without some hair on fire headline headline this morning. I can't for the life of me figure out why there's so much anxiety and irrational fear out there.

The Russia/Saudi crude deal falling apart hasn't helped. Add in a virus with no vaccine and we have a perfect storm.

biosurfer1 03-09-2020 05:55 AM

i'm ready for some $1.50/gal gas!

cabmandone 03-09-2020 05:56 AM

A perfect storm of stupidity... but a perfect storm nonetheless.

sammyg2 03-09-2020 06:59 AM

Just shows to go how dumb and easily controlled the masses really are.

some would argue that believing in a never-ending upward trend is stupid.

Hopefully those involved with the market would have a deeper understanding than that.

speeder 03-09-2020 07:32 AM

Someone help me here...what's the point in buying T-bonds that pay close to zero return? Why not just leave the $$ in the bank, where it's available at any time for any reason?

sammyg2 03-09-2020 07:42 AM

Same reason I have most of mine sitting in money market funds that pay a percent or two.
Safe haven.

It's not a matter of believing in a never ending upward trend. I don't believe anyone thought the ride would keep going but the irrational reaction to a virus that will pass is ridiculous.

Wait, I'm sorry, Run For Your Life! The Coronavirus is coming!! What was I thinking being all rational?

pmax 03-09-2020 08:35 AM

Buy bleach.

I don't think that the reaction to CV is irrational, China is all but off-line for the time being and travel is dead, other than essential business travel. Europe is extremely disrupted, especially Italy.

It's temporary but it's going to hurt for a minute. The real story is all of the people who will get filthy rich off the situation.
